I find the "swivel" on my Grado cups to be far too loose. When I pick the headphones up, they just spin like crazy. Is there any kind of "mod" to fix this? Does anyone else have this issue?

I added some aluminum countersunk washers on top n below the rodblocks these provide additional friction u need. Try n c if it works for u.

I actually almost woke up my GF from laughing so hard.

Doing my final sand n clear coat. Sanded down my gimbals n rodblocks. Applying clear coat to the gimbals as well, hope it turns out nice n glossy, matching the woodies.

Based on experience, silver cables + Grado drivers are not a good combination.  Consider staying with copper for a neutral presentation.

Being that Grado headphones are very good on the detail, the silver cable tends to add more "sizzle" to the upper end.  It's not a good pairing and since silver cable costs quite a bit more, you are much better to invest your money in something else.
 
Again, this is my opinion but is also backed up by many members who have heard the combination before.

I have a set of Beyerdynamic DT-990 drivers for transplanting. I'm thinking of trying them in a set of Grado woodies. The drivers are 45 mm in diameter and 8 mm "thick."  
 
The PS-1000 drivers appear to match the diameter but how thick are they?

On a tangential note...trying reverse quarter-mod Sennheiser pads today and can't believe I didn't do this sooner.

Butt-ugly on my SR80 pinks, but soooooo coooooommmmffffyyyyyyyy....
