Got one of these for relatively cheap.. for me this is the best sounding vintage orthos..

Some shots of the YHE-50a, I don't see many online. Full disclosure, I have not clicked through all 100+ pages of this thread's gallery.
Pictures of the driver from the process of converting them from Mono to Stereo.
They sound, to be honest, insanely bassy, not exactly muddy but still way too much. Mids sound recessed and even a little flat.
The cups are really tiny, the sound quality drastically differs depending on how they sit on my ears, so I might not have the best position down.

Another vintage ortho that i got for cheap.. already modded when i got them so its not a fair fight against the id1, but i like them equally, sound-wise HP1 is the livelier one..

It sounds cool. High is better than HP-1’s

Good high, heavy bass.

Just got leather sheep-skin earpad for HP1.. it got insane bass right now, hard to believe this oldies can produce this kind of bass..
