Can you compare them to HP1 ? Are they really in between HP1 & HP3 ?

Yes they are. Soundstage and presentation is less refined, more direct, also for me MY aniso hp1 has that magic x factor. This one does not. But it is a really good headphone nonetheless. I clearley put it between hp1 and 3. imho. 0.02cents etc....

So what happens when you slap j$ beyer earpads onto a YH100, huh?

My friend loved the YH100 I modded for him but its flimsy earpads were hurting his ears after a while = problem solved

And I'm still as weak as ever because I've got another aniso HP1 heading my way, it's hard to let those things pass by.........I tried to resist, I really did! But I'm hoping that the previous one I had was a dud, because I'd love to mod it to be a compromise between the HP1 3D SS + the YH100 bass.....the worst case scenario being that it'll go back to where it came from.

Since J$ pads aren't being produced any longer, is there another circumnaural option for these?

I need to re-cable my HP1s. Any suggestions for a non esoteric replacement?

Mogami quad would probably be a good option but I haven't personally tried it.

How do the SFIs sound in the ham radio headphone shell? I would imagine there isn't much space for damping in there.

much better than in ANY plastic cup, believe me. this driver needs support (added mass), and tight damping. and in this case there is wooden insert too. this was a beyer 1350 replacement for me - I mean better sounding and much more comfortable street phones, fiio x5 is enough to drive them well.

Are they SFI tweeters or actual SFI headphone drivers?

Either way, good to know that they sound good to you

Ah... I recognise the bottom left (red wood cups) headband.
I guess you painted the brushed aluminium?

Anyone knows if its worth to mod the fostex T40v1? And do any measurements of the T40v1 stock exist (have gone through all three goolge pages..seems not to be that popular)?
Is the driver much better and good to mod it like the young T40mkII/T50mkII driver?

Anyone know which pads fit on the B&O U70? Wanna try them out stock first.

I once transplanted the drivers out... but that was a pretty wacky experiment.

Yeah, I have read the thread yesterday. Your pics are really helpful. I read in an other thread that those drivers are a lot greater than the new MKII models and I could get a T40v1 for a reasonable price now. For now I got my T40 modded and tuned to Olive/Welti target curve ideally within +/-2db.  I'm just curious if I could get it more perfect with the "old" drivers and their housing or if its wasted time.
