Orthodynamic Roundup

Sorry, but i was a very random purchaser of these headphones and totally in the dark regarding specs, acted on pure interest for orthos and the fact they russian orthos (I'm Russian). Roman (the MySt director) said the specs will come out when they're up for sale and i haven't seen pictures of the diaphragm.

What i can say about the difference between HD650 and Izophones is that the latest is much more detailed and fast across the whole spectrum, some agressive and fast genres are fully controled with no mute or distortions.

Actually asked Roman and he said the diaphragm is more similar to Hifiman in 30s (isodynamic model) but with it's on special traits and also there is a plan for orthos too with diaphragm almost twice bigger ~

I take it that the final phone will be +500g?

It's a shame that almost alll neo orthos(apart from the T50RP) are so heavy, AKG wrote in the k1 brochure(available on wikiphonia) that an ortho design with neo magnets would be too heavy. The 290g YH-100 is my top limit and it's got a Bellini dual-headband that balances the weight.

The PM2 should be less than 390g and that's already pushing it, I see that the LCD-XC is 650g and comes with a miserable single headband.....so that means that to some ppl comfort doesn't matter and that they are willing to wear such heavy phones for several hours straight?

I read audiophile cables makers claiming that headphones cables were too thin for their own good but that it was all about compromises, if weight is no object I guess the next logical upgrade for a 650g phone is two über-shielded garden hoses

Off to see what the MYST BA iem was/is. Thanks for that post.

Looked like the pads on mine were after market but they were attached behind the baffles.
