Speaking of the HP1A / HP2A, apparently there is a service manual for it. (At least, there is a web site selling it.)
Also, the square holes in the magnets are at least different looking, even though we don't know if it affected the sound. EDIT: but I suppose we don't have a picture of the HP1A driver?

I can't quite place this ortho-looking can from a Polish board. What is it? Has it been discussed? (It might not be an ortho at all of course)

Nah. This might make some sort of sense if the YH-1 driver didn't look, sound, and spec more or less exactly like the HP-1 driver.

Didn't the Poles identify them? They kind of resemble an old Kenwood that became a fosterphone for someone here, but the headband is different.

EDIT: I looked at them a little more closely in PhotoShop, and now I'm not sure. There's a faint whiff of TDS-16, but yet not. Sure looks orthoetic, though.

I like my T20v2 a lot as well. Very good headphone with a very simple mod. I would go as far as to say that there are my favorite Fostex headphones at the moment, out of T20v2, T30, T50v2 and T50RP, because they don't do anything particularity wrong and do a lot of things very right.

Well keep in mind that there where a few years between YH-1 and HP-1, and that this is only my wild speculation

And please, never stop those wild speculations. I don't know what we'd do without them. Since reality very seldom makes quote sense unquote, you could very well be right.

This applies especially to the business and marketing world. As we're finding out every day.

Welcome to Sim1. You've got one of the better headphones of its type. Unlike most of them, the T20v2 is listenable in stock form. Mod it and you begin to believe it can be improved indefinitely. Wisdom is knowing when to stop and accept it for what it is. Damping makes a big difference; earpads make a big difference too. Feel free to ask questions and don't forget to make use of the search engine dedicated to this and a few other long, unwieldy threads: Home / Head-Fi Megathreads

haha yeah, giving it away for 125 bucks. I'd rather not touch it, especially since the T20v2 is supposed to be "better sounding". We'll see though.....

Do you add or remove the damping comparing to original amount? Is it supposed to be equally adjusted or differences forward <-> rear / top <-> down or such?

Komi, do you want the manual on the Wikiphonia?
( Isodynamic (aka orthodynamic) - Wikiphonia )

Interestingly, the service manual shows drivers with square holes in the magnets.
Also, they are called the HP20,21,22,23 to differentiate between different colors. Cool find Komi!

There are also two different part numbers for the HP1 diaphragm. I wonder if that means two diaphragms as well, or just different numbers. It's all out of stock of course :-(
