Most overrated headphones?

So I googled Xears since I've never heard of that brand, and I immediately saw this IEM model.

It looks suspiciously similar to my $7 Cliptecs.

And yea they are hella boomy. Sounds like you only have woofers on your speakers and no tweeters. Ok probably a very weak tweeter but you catch my drift.
Avoid like a plague

There's a significant appreciation thread for Xears (http://www.head-fi.org/t/545450/xears-appreciation-thread-formerly-td-iii) which I don't get at all.
The N3i sounded like it had a woofer tuned at 200Hz, and a midrange driver wrapped in blankets.
The XE200Pro added a tweeter to the mix...

ATH-M50 hands down
ad700 overrated for gaming

Truer things have never been spoken. The M50 is so overrated. Not to mention you end up paying $50 more for the 280 which outperforms it in every way and is a very similar headphone.

Since you bring up the HD280's. They aren't really overrated, but that's just because there isn't an overwhelming amount of positive things being said about them.

And, HD280 > M50? No way, especially with current prices. The M50 has come down in price a lot, and is a lot better built, and more comfortable. As for sound, I wouldn't call the HD280's M50 but better.

Depends where you shop. Here in the UK, I'd be willing to spend the extra £20 to get a HD280 over the M50. Not that I really like either headphone much.

I think my preferences for the studio monitors I've heard would be like this:

Shure SRH840 > SRH440 with 840pads/KNS8400 > KNS6400 > Beyer DT880 > HD280 > M50 > Beyer DT250

No 940's?

V6 > All. The decision in the king of closed headphones thread came down to CD900ST vs V6, and everyone knows the V6 is better.

jk. You should try it though, and the CD900ST.

btw, where would you put the SRH440 w/out 840 pads on the list, or have you only heard them with 840 pads?

I heard "CD900ST".

<3 CD900ST

Honestly though, as far as pure, multipurpose studio headphone, I think the V6 is my favorite. The CD900STs is generally superior to me, at least as far as music listening goes, but I could see the V6 being more useful in a studio situation.

Haven't heard them. I'll try and find a pair at the London meet.

It's basically just a clearer, slightly brighter and less bassy version of the srh840.
Sounds wonderful but a bit too bright for me.

Just below the 440 with the 840 pads. The 840 pads seal better and massively improve the comfort.
