I think they work great as PC speakers. I just leave on the table next to my keyboard and enjoy the sound while watching TV.

Grados can do that too.  When sitting on the desk and not on my head my netbook's hp out can drive them louder than it own built in speakers.  They sounded much better too, even from 2-3 feet.

They're open back ***.

If you want less/no 'leakage' them buy closed back.

So does anyone have more impressions of the he-500? Why the abrupt stop in discussion for this amazing ortho?

We're all out enjoying listening to them instead of posting about them!

Why did you 2 sell them? I.e. was it something to do with SQ?

Mine are also for sale, but I can safely say it's not an SQ problem. They're by far my favorite headphones I've ever heard.

My reason for selling is changing priorities (ie. Paying bills and getting ready for a move).

Hope to own then again one day.

I find myself listening to mine at least as much as I listen to my LCD-2's.  I think they are a killer headphone.

II just got these and they sound great...my only problem is that the cords that connect to the headphone seem like they can only get so tight, so when I play games if i move around at all soemtimes itll crackle because the of the loose connection...am i doing something wrong or is this just how theyre designed?

Unfortunately, it's how they're designed. Tighten them well with a pair of small pliers and they'll stay longer, but eventually they come loose.

Upon the arrival of my HE-500, I attached the cables and tightened with the pliers in my Leatherman. They haven't come loose yet... despite quite a lot of use.
