HEK is 35 Ohm/90db and goes down to 8Hz

Did you have fun giving us mixed information on the HEK?

can you explain what is mixed

It is no big deal.  You mentioned that your "solid source" told you that the HEK+amp will be north of 10k.  So it appear that the asking price is only $2499 for the phones.   Well....you maybe right if the amp is 7.6k or so.

Just spent some time with the HE-1000.  Very impressed.  So very fast, even more comfortable than the HE-560, and the styling is stunning.  Dr. Fang Bian has raised the bar yet again.

Here's a quick panning video of it for you all to enjoy.

Ridiculously large.......If they beat my HE-6 I guess they can look like that........

The headband looks like part of a Hannibal Lecter mask.

I would be highly surprised if the amplifier is more expensive than than $7.6k.

Glad to see the HE1K is under $3k, though $2.5k is still way over my personal budget.

I`ll estimate that the non-Moon price will be as low as 2K within a half year or so, so in other words I plan to buy this gigantic gorgeous contraption this year.

After they have fixed swivel issues, veneer separation and driver failures.

I heard the headphones (impression posted on other place) on CES, and the combo does not deserve five digits price tag.  It is just slightly better than LCD-X overall.

This is my opinion, but I disagree. I heard the LCD-3 elsewhere at CES (specifically through a Burson Conductor at Burson's room in the Venetian), and I think the HE-1000 is definitely a class above that, as good as the LCD-3 is. So unless the LCD-X is a lot better than the LCD-3, I can't really agree with this statement.

I do know that my praise for the HE-1000 makes me sound like a paid shill from Hifiman, but trust me, I'm not. I just really like this headphone.

Yup, saw an Abyss powered by two Woo WA234 monoblocks. $31000 worth of amplification.

That's when I realised headphonedom had lost it/

I actually heard that setup, and admittedly it sounded really good (one of the best I've ever heard in my admittedly somewhat limited experience in the world of headphones), but no way in hell is that setup actually worth the $31000.

In  my opinion it wasn,t better than the SR009/BHSE combo. I would even rate the SR007MK2 above it.

The driver seemed to be a laggard compared to the nanosecond fast transients of the STAX duo.

I guess 2500$ would be 'eventually swingable'... not cheap but not double.
Plus, it seems to be about as efficient as the HE-560, if not more.
