Obviously the cable on the HD25 Light is a little different and is not splitted Left-Right to adapt to a non-splitting headband. But I assure you the sound is the same because the audio components are the same.
“If you take a look at the technical specifications of the new edition of the HD 25 Light, you can see that they are the same as those of its bigger brother. Just like the HD 25, the audio transmission range is 16 to 22000 Hz, the impedance is 70 ohms and the sound pressure is 120 dB. The "old" Light model had to make do with a frequency range of 30 to 16000 Hz and had a sound pressure level of 114 dB”. Taken from Gemtracks review April 4, 2022. Also old HD25 Light impedance was 60 ohms.
That HD25 Light has the Sennheiser 'S' logo on the center screw covers.
The old HD25 SP II 60 ohm had the words 'SENNHEISER' printed directly on the actual cups. The old model also had a 3m cable I believe.

No, the cable is a weird, HD 25-specific cable because the HD 25 is single-entry, there is one wire that goes to the right driver and one wire that's longer, that goes to the left driver. I may have gotten the sides mixed up but the main point is that at the splitter, the wires become unequal lengths.
The connectors should fit, but you won't be able to string an HD 600/650/6XX cable on a pair of HD 25s, because the groove in the headstrap is too narrow.
I'm having a second go around with headbands after a fairly expensive detour into IEM land and I think I'm sticking this time.
HD25s are my portable solution and once I finish dicking around with cables I shall settle into enjoying their unique sound.
Just spent an hour or so doing this...
...to an OE steel core cable.
I do have some soldering skills and being a bit of a prepper a lot of paracord.
A bit of trial and error threading the cable through the paracord was probably the most tricky bit.
Now I'm off to that auction site to find a copper cable to do.
