My take on the HD25. 600 Ohm drivers, alu cups, aliexpress pads and Oyaide cables. Yes, they are very good. The Alu cups are works of art, this is not just some alu coating, those cups are machined from a block of solid aluminum. I am sure they were very expensive to make and I suspect they will never be made again. HD25.JPG
That's a very nice take on these cans indeed. Enjoy!

I think I have a problem.... :D
Up front: Alu version with Oyaide cable and stock Alu pads (fake leather)
To the right: Basic classic model with silver cable and same fake leather pads as Alu version.
In the back: Stock HD25 with stock pads and stock cable.

I see you talk about pads, I made a big post about the different pads a while back and the alu/amperior/stock has different pads for sure:

I really really like the HD25. I would say that I'm a collector of sorts. Have a small batch of replacement parts and 2 of each ear pad. Would really like to hear the 600ohm driver, one day maybe :)

Those are very likable cans, that's for sure. Although portable, I'd easily put them as high as Senns HD 600, so products that will always be relevant. Just my 0.02

I’ve found (I may have mentioned this before here) that they really benefit from the Custom Cans damping mod and a Forza Audioworks pure copper cable. Best pads, IMO, are the stock pleathers.

They sound like a Decca cartridge: fast, immediate and dynamic. They don’t really “do” soundstage, but then you don’t expect them to.

stock pads, are a pain to wear. not sure how the soudn was, but the experience was really bad for anything over 20 minutes, compared to any thicker pad like yaxi pads or a similar cheap ones from aliexpress.

The Yaxis look and feel much better, but I found that they blunted transients to an unacceptable extent.

That can easily be done, just buy a pair of 600 Ohm drivers. They are quite cheap and they sound better to me than the 70 Ohm ones.
