I specifically prefer the Pros because they fit tighter, while still being comfy. The Premiums are a bit loose and tend to hurt my neck due to constant re-adjusting.
To sound good yeah you need a decent amp , but it's listenable from an ipod there is sound and it's not as bad as "i can't use them " ... But i would not advice any one to use a ipod as source for a DT-880-600 ohms , just if you are amp less for a day or two , it will not kill you to plug your DT-880 on your ipod
Is the DT990 Pro much better than DT 770 80ohm? ( for electronic music and movies/serials ) I'm looking to buy one of them but I'd like a closed phone because I think im not going to get the most out of the 990. Noisy computer and tv in the other room are probably going to interfere my listening with dt990.

Alright, placed my order with B&H. It was close between thet dt990 pro's and the Ultrasone 780's - But B&H has the 990's for like $179, which isn't much more than the 780s. So, I pulled the trigger...hopefully my ipod classic and headstage arrow 12he can power them adequately..now the wait LOL.

I'm only going to use it in home, so portability isn't important at all. What's a good desktop amp for 770pro 80? Fiio E9?
250 ohm.
