Just got my RS1is back from Drew at Moon Audio. I bought them used and they had a Black Dragon cable installed by Moon Audio. I wanted a lighter cable for portable use, so I had Drew install HD800 connectors on them.  Here are the results:
Those look fantastic, Drew does good work. I'm glad I'm not the only one who bags around their RS1's.

I finally tracked down a pair of RS1i's to upgrade the 225/325's I've periodically owned. All the heat is out of the top end, and instead replaced by a smooth, much more refined presentation of the music. None of the immediacy of the sound stage is lost - which is a feat in and of itself. I'm very happy.

Very very happy.

What are the primary differences between the RS1 and the PS500?

Primarily the mid-bass hump on the PS500. The RS1 has a brighter, sparkly emphasis.

They're both awesome, and worth owning both :D

Have the RS1i and the PS500 and absolutely prefer the PS500.
Reason why is the above mentioned bass hump and less treble.Because you have more bass the sound seems to be more grounded and complete.
Also, the PS500 has a more holographic or 3D sound.
I use them with a Fiio X5 or with a Bottlehead Crack with speedball/ Metrum Octave DAC and there is a good synergy with both but obviously the latter is better.

I'm holding off pad rolling for a minute, most of my extra stuff is now packed for my move... BUT the little I did try the same stuff holds true as before...

s-cushions roll off the treble and add some perceived bass at the cost of detail and sound stage

quarter modded s-cushions have better detail then non modded s-cushions but aren't as detailed or spacious as stock

l-cushions are stock and seem to be a compromise

reverse l-cushions add bass, are more comfortable then stock and only sacrifice some sound stage and a little bit of detail

taped l-cushions add bass and don't lose much of anything

flats sound like flats lol

g-cushions add more sound stage at the cost of body and bass

Ryan can you please post a photo of the various pads you mentioned?
Thanks
