Yes, through the years I considered selling it but always decided against it.

Awesome amp indeed!

I'm downsizing my collection a bit and decided to sell my socketed RS1i. If case anyone is interested: http://www.head-fi.org/t/830161/grado-rs1i-with-sockets-cables-and-mahogany-box

Had a chance to listen to my rs1i's after being in storage for the last few years.

I have an incoming rs2e to add to my Grado collection, so I decided to reacquaint myself to my rs1i, rs2i and hf2.

Just as I remember them.

Rs1i best looking most accurate sounding to audiophile reference with a classical U shape sound.
Rs2i more midrange less bass, but transparent as a holographic image right in front of you. Scary.
HF2 neutral top to bottom very little emphasis in any area possibly with a tinge of metal ring to the tops. Used by audio engineers to get a flat response to the sound recording.

And rs2e's ?
I'd predict closer to the rs2i presentation. Will be interesting how subtle the differences will be between rs2i and rs2e.

Stay tuned.

I found RS2e > RS2i > RS2, yet RS > RS1i > RS1e (I have all six).

Go figure!

You know John, I used your excellent reviews to make the rs2e purchase so many thnx :)

I wanted to ask you how the rs1 with buttons is compared to the rs1i? Is it still a u shaped sound or is it more midrange emphasis like rs2 series?

Am looking for a rs1 with buttons to finalize the grado purchases but was wondering is the change more subtle or substantial.

I found that the RS1 (with buttons) had better deep bass, less transparency, but better treble detail, than the RS1i. I would say that the RS1 was more U shaped than the RS1i.

Here is a comparison chart from my comparison here. Higher numbers are better.

Picked up a brand new/un-opened pair of RS1i’s (AudioVideoExpressions had an old new pair for sale).

Only Grado experience I have was actually my first high-end headphone experience, a pair of SR225i’s that I got back in ‘10 or ‘11 and loved.
Don’t know why it took me so long to try another.

Looking forward to trying the RS1i’s!
(After the infamous Grado burn-in period, of course)
Have heard lots of praise over the years.

I found my RS1i lack of mid, when I listen to hip hop, the bass and tremble overwhelmed vocals, I'm using the stock rs1i pads. I'm not sure how I can adjust it to make vocals better. But I for some Indie rocks, I feel the vocals/mids is doing ok.

Currently driving rs1i using IFI Zen DAC + IFI Zen Can.
