I have some metal sleeves that a member sent me a bit over a year ago.  I'll have to find a project for them.  I'll have to go through my PM's to see who it was.  Cheers to them, though.

Lol not that tunnel again

It could be more of a rut.  I'm sure we've all been there at one time or another with this hobby. :-D

If you need to know the grub screw size it's M4 and 3mm in length works just fine :grinning:

LMAO...yes, I always find myself fumbling around in the tunnel of subjectivity when I take myself too seriously. At that point I usually put down my headphones, go to my workshop, and start sweeping up sawdust.

The V6 follows in the footsteps of the V5. It has extended bass and treble frequencies, and isn't as "neutral" sounding as the V4. It's still beautifully clear though. An alternative, if you seek that "neutral" sound is the Ypsilon driver by Elleven Acoustica.

I use quotes on neutral because I am not sure everyone would agree with the statement that the V4 was the definition of neutral. I know I have questions in my mind on the matter, but find my train of thought rapidly going into a subjectivist tunnel whenever I follow it

.

The full Magnum V4 measures pretty close the the HP1000 - so I would agree with your neutrality statement.  The V6 in C6 cups has a big bump in bass and improved distortion measurements. It's an improved driver, but I feel the bass needs tamed a little bit.

Interesting.  Gone are the days of us taking a tip of a ball point pen to the back of a stock Grado driver to open up a few of the felt vents for an improvement in bass.   I'm looking forward to the drivers so I'll be able to put it through the various paces.  While you've noted that the bass is heavier in V6 of the driver, have you ever heard a pair of SennGrados?   I was looking for a point of reference with the bass as compared to the standard Grado offerings.

I'd love to have a sound stage as wide as I remember my GS-1000 (non-"I" version), yet a bit more bass.  I guess we can always wish for the right driver tonic to cure our desires for sound.

That's where the Ypsilon steps in. It's bass is more controlled. I had a pair of V6 in C6 as well and agree with you.

Working from memory and what I felt were a bassier PX100ii driver variant, the V6 is a tad cleaner. The driver feels a little more controlled but just as bassy as the SennGrado.

Yes, the SennGrado sounds mostly like a stock PX100ii with a little more air and bass added. The V6 is a much better driver, but just-as / or more bassy than the PX100ii driver.

Cup + Pads make a difference. If you run flats on your HP1000 - make sure your V4 uses Flats + All Aluminum construction with same air chamber dimensions.
Cool cheers for that.ive also got in my special box of drivers V1 and V2 so that could make it even more interesting even though I've not really read the report on those drivers
