Thank you for being such a generous guinea pig UT, saves me money and wasted time - I'll make it rule 1. Grados should only use the pads they were designed to work with :beerchug:
… I thought that your rule 1 was going to be “let UT try it first” … 😏😲🤣.

I tried. I tried very hard to love the ZMF pads. In fact for a week, I was enjoying it for it's cosiness. However when I put on the F pads today, I realised that this is what I love about the Grado sound signature. The contrast is startling.

The best part of the day is when you first wake up and you put on your RS1X and power on your tube amp and select 'Morning' by Beck.

The best part is that it gets better with each day you do this because my RS1X is 99% burned in.***

Did I just start the burn-in debate again? :relaxed:
*** 99%? how can you tell? 😮😜

A new Addition to my Grado Collection arrived me this week
😍

IMO the processing quality of that Vintage models are much better than the models afterwards. The Gimbals are very sturdy and looks much nicer.
With some Feed-N-Wax Finish this look as good as they sound.

Got one myself recently. Really great sound quality, you can tell it used to be TOTL back then.

Congratulations, one of Grado’s best and their first wood body.

It’s a KEEPER”

Beyer T1 v1, Grado GS3000x, and Audio Technica AWKTS (or ADX5000) to me are the trifecta of treble-focused headphones.

I have the 248th pair of Beyer T1s with a balanced Black Dragon cable that I purchased from Moon Audio shortly after they released. I guess they have conditioned me to really appreciate a brighter sound. I'm glad I stuck with them and built a system around them, because I have recently acquired this needle that works so well with the T1s and RS-2xs, its incredible. The Vessel R3SM:

System matching is important. My mixer and HP amp are very neutral/transparent, and I finally found a needle that brings out the warmth and bass of vinyl. It works so well with Grados - totally understand why people are driving them with tube amps.

I remember that review.
I use a modded 1200GR daily.
My favourite cartridge are Technics 310MC completely rebuilt by expert stylus and a modded Denon 103r.

I also use a pair of AK T5P 2nd generation.
They’re based on the Beyer T5p.
I don’t know what AK did to them but they use a cable made of copper, silver plated copper and pure silver.
I don’t know it there tuned differently from the Beyer T5p?
My model number is 846 out of only 1000 made.
Payed £300 second hand for these last year.
There an excellent light weight closed back and sound wonderful .
Very easy too drive and stunningly good build quality.

Your right about Grado and valves.

That’s my Rosewoods with the Schiit Vali 2++.
Outstanding little amp for the money.
Another Schiit super sounding bargain just like there Mani phono stage.

It’s a wonderful day today as it’s a bank holiday the weather is crap so what else to do?image.jpg

I am really enjoying my GH2's today. I was doing some A-B'ing between the Valhalla 2 and the LD MK9 and both were sounding good with Supertramp and Miles Davis.

Then I decided to try my ever evolving "test list". Man, these GH2's sound awesome with the Valhalla 2. Nice full sound with really capable bass. :L3000:

Hi :beerchug:

Simple question: Both being the same price which would you go for.. GS3000e or GS1000x?

I have GH2, GH4, Hemp, 325x & 80x and feel as though I do really enjoy the hemp and 80x but I prefer the sound from the GH2/GH4. Wanting to branch out into the Statement series next is why I am asking for opinions.
