I’m sure that is the best choice even though they are so light.
Have you adjusted the clamping pressure to your liking. Little adjustments will get you to your best sound, a little bit can sometimes make a nice improvement.
Back home from a trip - time to further experience RS-1x with the XLR termination.
This time, into Liquid Platinum - ‘tubed’ with Tesla ECC802S pair on Pulse Tube Store adapters. Holographic, panoramic, wholly engaging - without hype, sizzle, ‘technicolour’.
i've received my GS2000e yesterday and i like it but it has nearly no bass or "body". Is there a good pad-option that will bump up the bass and generates more "body" to the sound? I thought about the Dekoni Velours?
No experience with ZMF pads. ZMF has a lot of options and would be more expensive to test and can't be returned. Dekoni pads can usually be returned if you don't like them.
First, congratulations on your purchase! That is such a fabulous and exciting photo that you show of your new headphones. I have the same headphones, and I really really love them.
The first thing I would do toward increasing the bass is to just let them burn in for up to 200 hours. I did not notice it with this Grado, but with the GS1000e, it was still burning in after 400 hours of use. The only Grados that benefit from different pads that I have seen is the GH-1, going from the on ear L pads to the around the ear G pads. I would not think pads would help this, although I bet some would indeed increase the bass, but at the expense of other sonic features.
I just love the former "Shipibo" Pads (especially if you are in Europe), nowadays known as Nyczaj ear pads. I love them with my 325 Gold and the Classic RS1. The lower end improved a lot and in all honesty I don't detect a major difference in the other frequencies. Overall, for me, it is a lovely step up from the original pads (L ones for the 325 and F for the RS1).
Nevertheless I have no idea how it will affect the sound in the GS2000e, since those use the G pads, originally.
Oh, how I have missed my GH2's. This week is tube week. For the last 1/2 hour I have been going back and forth between Valhalla 2 and Little Dot MK9. I have been stuck on Crush by Dave Matthews. Two versions of wonderful. More 3D on the LD MK9, but the Valhalla 2 is near on perfect, with new to me Mullard tubes.
Based on how you like your Grado, answer is easy: PS2000e
Highly musical, energetic, weighty tone, solid punch with spacious soundstage. GS3000e sounds anemic in direct comparison. Unless, you want something that truly different from Hemp or GH2, GS3000e then.
