dx100 is superior to zx1 in staging and imaging, up till today dx100/hdpr10 is one of the best daps in the market.
i decided to wait until i see a fair comparison between dx200 and fiio x7 as i have a feeling both could be same sounding daps as they have sabre dacs , and mimoulle impressions looks as if i am reading the sound signature of fiio x7
Really? I found ZX1 quite bright energetic, edgey treble, closer to a DX90. ZX1 definitely wasn't warm and smooth for me.
Can DX200 do MQA music format? Available on Tidal soon: https://www.engadget.com/2017/01/05/tidal-master-audio/
Amen. I absolutely loved the DX100. Keeping it on the " I "....I loved the depth, airiness, and separation of instruments that brick put forth. I would come home from work...via a crowded NYC subway train and put my 650's on with it and just zone... Just zone... So far no other DAP has put me in "that" zone...not even the AK380...which came really really close...But at a price tag that is ridiculous... I can't wait to get my DX200 and review it! The DX100 this, the DX100 that... if one doesn't specify the FW used, the comparison isn't quite precise enough...
Why is that? Different people liked different FW versions... I personally have played with all of them and had my favorites and my least favorites. What might sound great to me may not sound good to you. Regardless, this is about the DX200 now and we're all anxious to hear it...or at least read reviews about it. But I do agree with you about stating which FW was used when reviewing something...but in casual conversation I don't think it's a very big deal. Just my $.02 Steve from NYC
Just that the DX100 could range from pretty neutral to warmish, even a bit bass heavy, with all the different FW, so, comparing to other DAP sound signatures, including this new DX200, it might be useful to add what FW.
I understand what you're saying...I do. For me...I prefer 1.2.7 and 1.4.2. I've had 1.2.7 on for awhile now though. I hated 1.3.7 though...to my ears it produced a declination of sound quality. This DX200 could make a LOT of waves in the DAP industry if it truly does sound better than it's much-hailed predecessor... I can't wait! Steve from NYC
