After some weeks of burn in, and more time with the D I find very little if any EQ or any effects need to be added when using IEM's. I notice the soundstage narrows when using BBE 1,2,3,4,5 but when go past 5 then it balances out to sounding wide. When using headphones the effects are very useful. With IEM's it ruins the "reality" factor and sounds too processed and hollow.

I can't see anyone hating this DAP for any super real good reason. Maybe a preference here or there or lack of this or that, but it's not really enough to put a nose up on.

There is no justification whatsoever to stay in firmware 1.13. You can easily downgrade to any firmware version already released when you want.
Sure there is. I am not having any problems, so i will stay with 1.13 for the time being. Thanks, and have a nice Day.

Do you think the firmwares are only updated to fix bugs? They are also used to improve the performance of players. You did not even test the latest firmware and think it is not worth it.

Cowon has released a new firmware today on its global website!
PLENUE D Firmware V1.14

It looks like it's the same as 1.14b, same file sizes. I think the 'b' stands for beta testing. I could be wrong though.

I edited the title of the topic to be able to gather all the problems reported by users of the player Cowon Plenue D -> Cowon Plenue D problems

Perhaps. I'm testing to see what meeting differently.
On the D, 4 hours of straight listening, after skipping tracks quickly after 4 1/2 hours of playing the D locked up last night. Had to do a hard reset and it went back to normal. Will test the new version. Hopefully that won't happen again.

Thank you so much for your input & for those links! It seems like that I like the design, portability, and battery life of the D yet like the versatility of the X5ii... Gees, this is a tough call. Maybe I'll eventually get both...How does one stop buying audiophile gears once they fall into it?!? Haha
Hence the standard headfi greeting. Welcome to Headfi, sorry about your wallet.

For those of you who are amping the Plenue D where do you set the volume and eq on the D?

Set volume at 100. Don't really use the EQ and when do only +1 maybe +2.

its better to put the amp to full volume and use the volume of the dap to adjust
that is what is usually recommended, in the past i used to do it like you suggested

So when the EQ is off it should be in the "Normal" position in EQ settings?
