Looks really nice. I've never been to America but I'd like to at some point. N6ii travel companion?

My uncle made that video

That was exactly the reason I posted it, bud. As homage to your family since you are visiting them now

One week in and this combo continues to impress. The Cayin N6ii absolutely rocks as a source for the Solaris. I'm not sure if it's Cayin's tuning or that the Solaris responds well to extra power but everything has improved-- staging, dynamics, separation and imaging. It almost feels as though the low end has been tastefully and subtly lifted-- any thoughts that Solaris might be weak in the bass department vanish completely with the N6ii. Furthermore, as I mentioned in my review, it's as though before (with my ZX300) there was a thin plastic sheen over the sound but now that is gone and everything feels a lot more intimate. Above all this is a very natural and musical combination with a beautiful synergy-- ideal for people (like myself) who prefer an emotional and organic sound signature.

We didn't have Solaris when we develop the N6ii, but we use Andromeda as one of the reference IEM during N8 and N6ii development.

Tomorrow flying to the other side of Earth. Like 23 hrs of flying plus 3 hrs of wait for the one stop. Im taking the N6II , Denon 9200 headphone , and a battery charger.

I though USB charger is a standard feature in all flight station already? but the charging speed is indeed fairly slow.

I dont know it for sure. But this info is from one of cayin dealers who got n6ii one of the first.
And I asked Andy about tubes. I don’t remember the answer exactly but tubes not the first thing cayin think about

The official response is "mechanically feasible", we have make sure there is enough space to install the Nutube in the Audio Motherboard, we'll proceed to verify the technical feasibility later, most likely after we completed the development process of the second Audio Motherboard.

thats is maybe a reason why they wont go for a modul with tubes. they want to sell their N8 too :D but i dunno anything of the plans from cayin

Actually we are still very confident with our N8, we still can't make enough to fulfill incoming orders. N8 is so complicated that the production/assembly process involve a lot of manual touch, hence limited the production qty.

Rather have a three presses to activate the on/off.

Can't solve the problem completely. With the Snapdragon CPU, when you long press the button over 10 seconds (or 12? didn't remember it correctly), it will enter safe mode. and if you continue to press the power button at this point , it will wake up from safe mode, and then enter safe again, and then wake up again, until somehow the button is released. If the button is released in the middle of safe mode, the player will remain at safe mode, you won't be able to turn it on through regular procedure, and it won't respond to USB charging, you have to wake it up by long-press the power button for 15 second.

Don't panic, a firmware update will not affect the sound signature that much, unless something is very wrong in the firmware, any change will be very subtle. A different headphone or IEM will affect the sound much more significantly I bet.

We have maintained the practice to avoid changing sound signature of our produce during firmware update, so far we haven't issued any sound-tuning firmware among our DAP products, since the first N6 back in Dec 2014.

Andy can I downgrade the firmware?, the new bright sound is not the reason I buy this player.. I warm the original sound that comes with the old firmware

I am sorry and surprised if you think the sound signature has changed so dramatically. Unfortunately there is no way to roll back to previous version of firmware, Google concerns the compatibility of APP when you downgrade your open Android device, so Google Play service basically forbidden any roll-back practise.

using the 4.4 balanced output, interference noise is present when my N6MK2 is near my phone and im using internet, or with any device that receives / transmits signal. is this normal?

The ultimate solution is to use a shielded headphone cable and connected the shield to the ground of 4.4mm connector, this should stop interference completely and offer a darker background to your system.

Sorry man I didn't mean my post was poorly worded...I was really wondering at the comparative lack of coverage...your pre-review is excellent and was very helpful in guiding my decision towards the N6ii :)

Now, my review of N6ii is complete and updated, including more in depth pair up and comparison examples. Will publish it on Head-fi soon as well.
