You don't want to switch from a sealed to a fabric/unsealed pad (the "cup" is the outside plastic part that says Denon btw) - you'll change the sound substantially. You can upgrade to real leather, from Lawton, but otherwise you live with what you get. If you don't like pleather/leather, get a different headphone.

No idea, but they're not the same material as any other headphone I've had. It isn't real leather, and it isn't the same pleather that Denon/AT/Kenwood use either. It does work very well for what it does though...sure wish other manufacturers would (could?) use it. Honestly if you're worried about heat, get an open headphone with velour/fabric pads.

Not really. It'll still change the sound and make them not seal as well.

The D2000's have a level of sibilance that gets kind of annoying. And although the bass level is north of neutral, I'd recommend something like the ATH pro700 mark2's for concert-level bass. Certified face-melters.

Are these any good? My local Electronics Expo ran out of D's D:! So I went to a Brookstone and plugged these into my phone at the demo stand. They were pretty good! But are they any good or just crap? http://www.ableplanet.com/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=21&products_id=45 So yep.

They look, at least from the picture, like an attempt at cloning the QC15. I actually like the QC15, but they cost more than those. No idea if they sound anything alike.

do yourself a favor and order the d2000 with the amp. i have no experience with the E6 but ive asked around and ive been told many times that if im getting an amp to make a difference, i should forget it unless im getting a decent one. i didnt want to take the chance

Don't overlook the HFI-2400s if you are looking for a headphone with great bass.  They are running about ~$185 on Amazon right now.  I love mine.  They are great for all genre's of music but their bass goes so deep and has great detail at the same time.

The HFI 580 is fine after some burn in with dubstep. Although it gets fatiguing after a while.
