Hello Everyone,

I am pretty new to the higher end headphones. I was wondering are there any high end offerings that offer the style of Beats, but a lot better SQ?

Thank you!
Alan

It depends on how you define "style". If sci-fi looking matches your aesthetics then HD800 is on top of the list. If you are a retro-style guy, nothing beats Grado. IMO Beats look cheap, low-end and ugly: just like those big-a** chrome wheels people put on their crappy cars.

Here are some audiophile grade headphones that I regard as "well-designed":
Ultrasone ED8
AKG K701
Denon D2K, D5K, D7K
Most of Audio-Technica W Series models

I think the Phiatons look pretty nice, but how is the SQ on that? I have only read up on the Sennheiser and Ultrasone (which I think look pretty cool)

I am guessing the Fanny Wang and Soul stuff don't sound good.

Haha... If only there were non-cheap looking ones. Like real chrome wheels :)

Two good closed cans, for portable use, with great sound and great design...

Audio Technica ES7

Beyerdynamic T50p (or 1350)

And, mostly for design... the Bower and Wilkins P5

nicee I am leaning towards the m80s now.

How do the m80s compare to the Klipsch Image One in terms of SQ? (though the M 80 looks more stylish)

Klipsch headphones really aren't anything you would want that much. IMOnot much class and underwhelming sound. You can find much better. The M80s, from what I've heard at least, sound and look amazing. And build quality is top notch (never tried them firsthand, but that's what I've heard).
