These headphones respond so well to Lotoo's parametric equalizer implementation. Tonight, I have basically turned them into bass cannons with no distortion or unnatural sound. These headphones sound far above their price if you mix and match properly. I listen balanced from my Lotoo Paw Gold Touch.

I've used Lotoo Paw Gold. It was a great DAP and built like a tank.
The Touch is even better. I love it. It boots up in two seconds and is intuitive to use. Very good DAP.

After 2 years and a half of almost daily usage some small crack is showing up on the pads. Could someone point me to decent and not to expensive replacement pads? My preference go to original AT pads if available. Otherwise some after market pads that do not change the sound. Hopefully available inside EU.
At the same time I'm considering to upgrade to the ATH-AP2000TI. Could someone who owns both give me some feedback, please?

I hear you and I'm familiar with it, just never had the chance to use it :)

What's up with the retail price history of these cans? As of now, MSRP in Canada is CAD $350, and they are currently on sale for $300 on Amazon - which honestly seems like decent value for what they (purportedly) deliver.

However when I scroll back in this thread, I see people were paying less than half that (in whatever currency) a few years ago.

Just looking on amazon in the UK, and they are £220 new but £170 for warehouse prices. I have had the msr7b a few times and always done the warehouse deals. I think best price was £130 and they came basically brand new. Fully worth a punt at those prices

Just received my new pair (gunmetal colour) and having a quick listen as I eat my lunch. More detailed impressions to follow, but I have to say I like the sound signature so far - pretty balanced with no big surprises.

My main compliant so far? The included balanced cable is comically short. I guess it'd be fine with a portable DAC/amp kept in a pocket, but not much beyond that.

Indeed, on my side I didn't have this problem (probably because of my different ears) but I could feel that it was really close to the speakers.
And what do you think about the sound?
Personally I quickly went back to the original pads. I found the sound less punchy, softer, less sub-bass and mid-bass, and the high-mediums too forward which tend to tire the listening. Also, less general precision especially in the bass thus. It's a pity because this is what makes the strength of the MSR7b (in my opinion).
Maybe there is a better match with the first MSR7 but I haven't had the opportunity to test it yet.
Has anyone found a pad that retains the overall sound signature, but is maybe 5-10mm larger? I find that my ears have to fold a little bit to fit inside the stock pads, and while it's not horrendously uncomfortable it is something I'd like to solve if I can.

The old MSR7 were worse for pad swapping, but the same holds true for the MSR7b. Larger pads will affect your sound, mostly in a detrimental way. That's the way it is. Only way around it so far if you really want larger pads is removing the felt disk inside the headphone cups. Then yeah, larger pads work, but they still change the sound signature a tad. Closest thing to the stock sound I've used would be Brainwavz HM5 sheepskin flat pads with the felt disk removed. Makes them a tad more V-shaped, but nothing major. In fact, I find it is an improvement in overall sound quality, as the soundstage also expands. Although as I've said before, my favorite config so far has been with the angled sheepskin HM5 pads. They turn these into a completely different thing and it's glorious.

Now, if you don't want the hassle of removing things etc, I don't really have a solution for you. Maybe check out the Dekoni pads for the m50x, as their pads are the same size as the MSR7. I don't really know if they're bigger than the stock ones though.

Has anyone else tried the MSR7b with these cheapo Aliexpress pads: https://m.aliexpress.com/item/1005003629989811.html

... because I'm still trying to come to terms with how much I like these things. Being a little bigger than the stock pads, they seem to open up the soundstage while injecting a healthy amount of bass. In truth, some of that sounds like it's coming from a slight resonant bass peak introduced around 75hz, but it's not obnoxious (to me) and I'll happily take the tradeoff for the added overall rumble.

Beyond the added bass, I'm just finding things more engaging. I didn't find the 7b to have a lot of personality when I first got them. They do now. Oh, and they're way more comfortable than stock.

I haven't tried those, but I use these Krone Kalpasmos earpads:

Terrific comfort and it boosts the bass.

I recently bought a MSR7b, it looks to have way more soundstage and being also way more airy and clear/detailed than my other headphone that has the same driver as Aedle VK1 (frequency chart here). The ATH costs 200USD in my country, would the HD560s be better or does the difference on clarity/resolution does not worth for 290USD? The only official resellers are ATH, Sennheiser and AKG(I also bough a K245, for 120USD but I find it nowhere as good as the ATH). I mostly listen to prog-metal/rock, sometimes synth, disco and R&B. So bass/subbass is important.

Thank you!

I use them and they're great, really comfortable and the sound is fine.
