Long story short, I had old LCD-2F Bamboo, but driver dead one channel while cosmetic housing still in pristine condition.

So now I revive it with LCD-3's soul, included the LCD-3F's driver, internal damping, grill, headband, and of course new pad. Couldn't be happier with this decision.

Not the last world of technicality, but dare I say at the very top being the most enjoyable one!

In fact, we typically do not sell/give drivers for people to replace themselves. Headphones will need to be sent in to a distributor for repair work, definitely not for hybridizing one model with another model's parts.

As far as I could tell, he paid for the drivers. I have never heard about anybody getting a handout.

Weird thing is this headphone somehow pretty heavy, number I got is around 680 gram without cable.

Understood, it is not standard procedure, and shouldn't recommend any hybrid design (I never recommend it as well). I just share my finding. It's not first time we see "hybrid" audeze lying around on head-fi. Sorry if my post bother this thread.

Does anyone find the LCD-3 bass to be hard to get right in terms of a good seal? Oddly, I find the bass is fuller if I lift the cups at the bottom by 1mm or so, but it never sits like that. I don't even lift them off my head, maybe just creating a bigger chamber perhaps? The right cup tends to be close enough to my ear that I gently feel the fazor.

The HP is in great cosmetic shape, but I'm unsure whether I have a wonky FR on this particular model or if my head is a wonky shape

I think the bass is more linear with a good seal, and you get a mid-bass hump when there`s a break in the seal. Also, the rest of the frequency sprectrum will take a hit, to my ears.

Excuse me, could I get the black grille that was recently implemented, my lcd 3 from 10 years ago has a sponge and this was replaced by the black grille, can it be bought from somewhere?

If somebody want to do that kind of trade I have one advice.
Don't do it blindly, lcd-5 is a big change from typical Audeze 'house' sound. And it's very different to LCD-3

Not me because I didn't like the LCD-5 all that much and my LCD-3 pre-fazors are somewhat rare these days:
