Last night I taped the drilled holes in my distancers. I had not tried this after I vented the drivers with four holes. I think I like this better.

Should reduce the mids amount theoretically...

What I am hearing is a more laid-back sound. I would not say the amount of mids is reduced, they are not recessed at all, but they appear to be less upfront. Another thing, I now use them with unlined pads as the cotton kept falling out and I got tired of that.

Wow, that is -apart from the punchhole mod- a complete fallback to the v0 state. I personally found that sound too DT770ish or Ultrasonish, voices only had a paperdoll authority back then.

I think that we have come so far with the MS1000 that speaking of a fallback is very relative. Especially venting the drivers makes a huge difference and, dare I say it, is absolutely necessary for the MS-1 to sound optimal. Unfortunately I can not speak for other models, but really all the things I read about the mod are positive, with the exception of some people who punched all 10 holes and found the bass a bit too much. For the MS-1, I personally find 4 working very well. I had 5 in my previous model, but the bass was a bit too loose.

Anyways, perhaps it is time to pick up an MS-Pro? It is crazy expensive, though... :frowning2:

Principally I could borrow you mine to clarify that question, but I think you are already familiar with its virtues anyway.

my MS1 is having problem, i think it had this problem since the start.

the left side is louder than the right, or should i say the right side's weaker, tend to bliz earlier during strong bass compared to left.

I have tried it on different source & setups, with & without amp, right side still sound softer than left even swapping the sides & tend to bliz faster.

can someone tell me if it's the cable problem, jack wiring or the driver's issue? Is there anyway to diagnose ourself? I don't want to change cable/jack & pry open it just to find out it's the driver's problem & can't be fixed just after spending so much money.

Could very well be that there is a small difference between the drivers resulting in an unbalanced sound. In theory it could also be a cabling problem, but I don't think that's the case here and you also said that your Alessandros have had this problem since you got them.

I don't know where you are located but try mailing Grado to see if you can get them repaired.
