It's not a question of ear size. I'm of the "princess & the pea" sort in respect of amost everything (cloths, bedding, etc.)

this is my sr125 mod with distancer without G cush, but the soundstage improved a lot, i add polyester fiber( those u can find inside soft toys

and additional pad inside the original pad. it is very comfy now, and the polyester fiber add some body to the sound. To nickchen: since you discribed modding the grado would give the 'sss..booom ' sound, which is a little bit unclear to me. would you like to try adding the fiber and pad to grado with G cush to test the difference? the first pic on the left is my first cup which looks like ps1000 but then i realised it's to heavy so i cut away the large diameter bit

I'm a bit unsure what you mean (fiber? G cush? Me?)

Generally, IMO you have the Grado Ssss-booom problem only if you combine distancers with the big jumbo bowls. Distancers with normal bowls should sound quite nice actually.

I have no idea what a G cush is. Remember this is a forum with a remarkable non-native-speaker share.

G-Cushion is what Grado calls Salad Bowls and Bagels.

It's the REAL name.

Wow frank! Where did you get those beautiful cups from? Mine are damaged and I'm looking into a replacement pair.

Here's a pic of mine:

I made it myself, one thing i'm curious about is how can anyone wear a ps1000 headphone? It would be extremely heavy unless Grado use some kind of lightweight aluminium alloy, i tried to make them but then have to cut it down to smaller diameter

Ok then, some thoughts.

I don't know, but I have some doubts that the extra upper mids and highs that you get from "1000ing" can be blocked away sufficiently. We principally have the same problem with the Alessandros, but as they are tamer, it can be solved by felting.

Felting (or other materials) do something, but the effect isn't so prominent to make a shrill sound pleasant. If you use cotton wool or alike, you are likely to block everything totally and end up in the dull lowfi territory, utilizing a stock KSC75 would be easier and cheaper.

Didn't know that. I always thought the salad bowls were the G-Cushions. Thanx!
