New "high-end" headphone amp from Germany
There is a review of the Black Cube Linear in the new issue of the german audio magazin STEREO. The reviewers seem to like it quite a bit. From the review it seems to bee a quite dynamic and punchy amp with lots of detail. The review also says, that it's quite good as a preamp. Lukas...- Der Wolf

Ray Samuels Audio Wishlist
Ok, ok, forget about the single box version... but still, what about a headphone amp, the size of a normal component? I mean, the Corda HA-1 (despite being a nice pice of equipment) really looks a bit silly in a rack between an Arcam CD-23 T and a Gryphon Callisto. Maybe a Gilmore V2...- Der Wolf

Ray Samuels Audio Wishlist
I would like to see a single box version of the HR-2. Maybe even upgraded... And the single box should have the same width as a normal component. It just looks better in a rack with normal components.- Der Wolf

Recommend me some live recordings!
Hi gloco, if you like PNYC you should give Hooverphonic - sit down and listen to a try. Not a real live album, but mostly older songs of them performed with acoustic instruments. Quite nice. Cheers. Lukas -

Hi, I haven't heard them, but they are from B&W so I suppose they are at least decent. http://www.bwspeakers.com/index.cfm/...nge%20Monitors They have 3 models, the WM2, WM4 and WM6. In a german magazin I read a small review wich said they sounded great for the type of application... -
Grado HP-1
Hehe... I can see, why that might have been a bad move... But I was pretty sure, that one of you fanatics (counting me in... ), was going to find that auction anyway. So I thought, that being so honest could stop you guys for a few more seconds before you started to drive the price up like...- Der Wolf

Whats out there besides the Reag Planet 2000 thats worth considering?
Hi elnero, the associated equipment was a Musical Fidelity a308 integrated and BC Acoustic loudspeakers. And I auditioned it against the NAD, the Cyrus and the Arcam CD 72T. I can't help it, but those are my impressions. I have no intention to bash it here or anything, I just wanted to give...- Der Wolf

Sophie Zelmani?
Hi Riordan, good suggestions, but unfortunately (or fortunately in this case? ) I allready own all of the albums metioned by you. I'm listening to "Siren" as I type. And you are right, Heather doesn't belong to "on and on". But, well, you can't remember everything... But I still find... -

best portable head phone sound $125 - $175
In your first post you said you wanted about 12dB of isolation... If that's the case, you can cross the Grados off your list. I'm a great Grado fan myself and wouldn't hesitate to recommend them at least for an audition. But they don't isolate. They just plain don't. Have you considered...- Der Wolf

Angstrom amp. (specs)
Hi audios. Don't you think it's a bit harsh to just state, that the given frequency response of the Angstrom is false. I mean, it's a quote from the manufacturer. As are all the other stated frequency responses in this thread. That doesen't mean I'm believing everything I'm reading on...- Der Wolf

Small Footprint CDP
Depending on your budget you could also consider the CD Playersfrom Cyrus. I haven't heard them myself but I have only headr good things about them. And they get quite favorable reviews in all magazins that revied them. http://www.cyrus.co.uk/cd_players.htm and the footprint of those...- Der Wolf

Angstrom amp. (specs)
Excuse me...but this frequency response isn't so stellar. I have not so much experience with tubed gear, like your Angstrom, but SS amps often have a much broader stated frequency response. The T+A Elektroakustik preamp P 1220 R for example has a stated frequency response of 0,5 Hz - 400 KHz...- Der Wolf

Looking for thinnest speaker wire that sounds good.
http://www.tad-kabel.de/ those are by far the thinnest cables that I have seen. And they are specifically designed to be installed invisible. Just check out their website. By the way, they are priced very reasonable too.... Lukas -
Any CDP better than Linn Ikemi that costs less?
Hi Vka. Have you already heard the Ikemi? I'm asking, since you are talking about reviews and how other people think the Ikemi performs... But back to the topic... When I was in the market for a CDP I auditioned a large number of players. And I also auditioned the Ikemi. kuma is...- Der Wolf
