HP3000 Glamor shots
I saw this and decided to throw in my 2c. I once owned these maple HP3K's and decided to have my own pair commissioned with the V2 setup (closer drivers). Obviously I ended up keeping the new ones.. I found them to have the ideal balance of the warm and bass of the maple HP3K (V1) and the...- wakked1

Best amplifier $2000 and under?
So far I'm really happy with my new GCHA. I can't find fault with it, which is a refreshing change. In A-B mode I might be able to find some issue but not right now. Its nice to be done with the amp shopping thing.- wakked1

Porta Corda USB vs. Total Bithead vs...
I had the previous Bithead Total vs Porta Corda III USB and prefer the latter. The Porta had a more balanced, natural and relaxed presentation. The Bithead was a bit bright and somewhat of a mild bass-boost feel to it. Considering that might make it better for sennheisers but too bright for...- wakked1

Quick question about Grado HF-1's and ear pain
Wierd. Since I listen to headphones like 4 hours a day I got curious about this & bought a ratshack db meter. Set it to my normal moderate listening volume and racked up about 65 db, occasional peak of 70 db. 90 db is pretty damn loud imho.- wakked1

Bye Bye HF-1s
You could once buy the HP-2 for like $500. Why not go back in time and snag a pair?- wakked1

Generating Impulse Responses for Foobar
That's great information, than you very much for posting this! I'm guessing for a simple EQ I could just truncate the WAV to 1 sample and apply the EQ?- wakked1

Review: K701 vs 2006 DT880
Nice review. In terms of the extension in the very low end, the amp makes a big difference. My new GCHA goes waaaaay deeper & stronger in the bass with the DT880 than either the Gilmore Lite or HA1-MKII could. It is not a subtle difference.- wakked1

Dt880 or K701 for TUBES?
I think the DT880 sound gorgeous with a little EQ to take the edge off the treble spike... -5db @9k does it, then I add +6db @ 14 and flat elsewhere.. sounds great to me.- wakked1

Just got Gilmore Lite: Impressions
The top post is old, but I found the GL sounds best with old fashioned OFC copper interconnects... seems like it was tuned for it. Silver or even silver blends seem to give it an unpleasant edge. Also, for whatever its worth.. I don't know how much burn-in it needs but it sounds worlds better...- wakked1

Good external sound card for under $150?
In terms of speakers, I scored a pair of Logitech Z-2200 as they went on clearance. They are quite nice sounding for the $. The Z-2300 that replaced them aren't nearly as good IMHO.- wakked1

How-to for convolver, impulse files, etc?
Thanks for the info! Looks like its the opposite process that I need to use with Audition.. first you create a filter then apply it to create an impulse. If someone were to create a "base" impulse with no filter would it be possible to use that as a starting point to apply different filters to?- wakked1

HeadFive & Gilmore Lite (How to compare)
The poll is silly. These are roughly equivalent in general quality, but fairly different in character based upon my time with the GL vs HA1 MKII. The Gilmore has better PRAT and transparency while the HA has a smoother sweeter midrange. The Gilmore has maybe a touch more extension at either end...- wakked1
