I saw this and decided to throw in my 2c. I once owned these maple HP3K's and decided to have my own pair commissioned with the V2 setup (closer drivers).

Obviously I ended up keeping the new ones.. I found them to have the ideal balance of the warm and bass of the maple HP3K (V1) and the mid-upper energy of the HP2 (with bowls.. I know, sacrilege). This pair has the ideal mix of warm, soundstage and highs for me.

Though I still have the HP2, there’s just something about their execution in general, and I still love them for more energetic music. Mine came with the wideband cable, which I think tames top-end sizzle.

Curious, how much did the ebony run you? I was considering that wood originally but ended up going with something else for sonic reasons.
