2.0 or 2.1 PC Speaker Set-up (College)
I have the AudioEngine A2s, and they sound amazing. They're also highly recommended on this forum. A little heavy on the bass, but you can EQ that out. They retail for $200, but you may be able to find them cheaper if you look around. -
Quick Power Cable Question
Plug them into the wall. It's the cleanest power you can get, and it sounds much much better, at least in my case. -
Sennheiser IE8 Impressions Thread
Right now I'm using the double flange tips and wearing it the way the instructions say to, which is over the ear. I burned them in for about 10 hours last night and listened to them on my commute this morning. They actually got a lot better. Soundstage is wider, bass is tighter, and the highs...- raekwonse

Sennheiser IE8 Impressions Thread
So I just received my IE8 in the mail and I've been listening to it for about an hour now and jumping between various tips. I'm actually kind of disappointed. I know the sound will change with burn-in, but I can't get nearly the kind of isolation as I could with my Etymotic HF2s with Shure...- raekwonse

FiiO E5 amp (E3 upgraded)
Does anyone else's status on Deal Extreme say "Processing...Please call for updates"? What does that mean? I feel like they should have shipped by now.- raekwonse

Low end Suggestions (And I mean Low).
Koss KSC75 would be perfect, they are open so you can hear things around you. However, that means other people might be able to hear your music as well. They run about $15-$20, but I think people on this forum may be clearing out the Radio Shack version for cheaper.- raekwonse

IE8 On Sale For $299.99 At HeadRoom
Thanks, that's a great price. I just ordered a pair. I was debating between the IE8, SE530, and the W3 and settled on these because of the price. Also, I listen to a lot of hip-hop and the adjustable bass sounds like it would be really good for that. Now I think I'll have to sell my Etymotic...- raekwonse

Hard to notice quality except in comparison?
I've been away from my apt for a week and a half because of the holidays, and I returned and listened to my DT880s with a Little Dot MKIII amp again and it sounds amazing. I don't remember it sounding this good when I listened to it basically 5 days a week. It seems as though it's really...- raekwonse

How to convert DT 880 into DT 990 (and vice versa). DT 770 Info.
Sorry to revive an old thread, but are there any other impressions on this mod? I would like to have more bass on my DT880s, but I am hesitant to do something irreversible to them. Thanks.- raekwonse

The Zero MOD Thread - 24/192 DAC/H/Amp
It seems like the Tributaries power cord is sold out now. It's not on the website. I might just go for the Zu Birth cord. Thanks!- raekwonse

The Zero MOD Thread - 24/192 DAC/H/Amp
Has anyone tried upgrading the stock power cable on the Zero? I was thinking of getting an Iron Lung Jellyfish or a Zu Birth cable for it. Thanks.- raekwonse

Has anyone upgraded the stock power cable on the Zero? Is it even worth it for a budget DAC?- raekwonse

Little Dot MKIII Tube Rolling
Wow, I just popped in my Mullard M8161's that I received in the mail and omg...the soundstage is ridiculous. I've been through the stock driver tubes, the M8100s, and the Voshod military spec tubes. They were decent, but this is by far the best out of all of them. I think I'm in heaven.- raekwonse

Soundstage Question
Wow, thanks guys. I didn't think I'd get this many responses. This was very informative. I was looking around and I also found this recent post which has some good suggestions for recordings with good soundstage: http://www.head-fi.org/forums/f9/sug...dstage-381141/ If you have any other...- raekwonse

Soundstage Question
So I read reviews of headphones on here that state that people can pinpoint the location of instruments coming from all directions. I have the Beyerdynamic DT880s amped using a Little Dot MKIII with M8100s, and a Zero with an Earth HDAM as my DAC. While it does sound really good, I really...- raekwonse

Tube glows bright and then dims?
I just get a pair of Mullard M8100s for my Little Dot MKIII amp. They sound great, but when I first turn on the amp, the left driver tube glows bright, then dims down to about the same brightness as the right tube. Is this okay? Thanks.- raekwonse

Adapter for 3 ring 3.5 mm to 2 ring 3.5 mm
Hi all, I have the Etymotic HF2's connected to a Fiio E3 amplifier and my iPhone as the source. I love the sound, but the only issue is that I have to have the HF2 miniplug slightly pulled out of the E3 because it does not use the third ring. Anytime my Fiio gets bumped by accident the sound...- raekwonse

Little Dot MKIII Tube Rolling
Just to let everyone know, Yen is selling the CV131 right now which is the civilian version of the M8161. They have the large shields. However I think the M8161 is military spec, and is higher quality. I actually found a pair of M8161's with the large shield off an international seller on...- raekwonse

Little Dot MKIII Tube Rolling
Where are you getting the M8161s? I can't find any expect for the ones with the small shields. Are the small shield ones even worth getting or should I hold out for the large shields?- raekwonse

Little Dot MKIII Tube Rolling
I think I'm maybe halfway through burning in my Little Dot MKIII and it sounds great so far. However, I was looking for some new driver tubes that would work the best with female vocals. Also, I already have a set of M8100s on the way. Are those good enough or can I do better? Thanks!- raekwonse

Upgraded Zero sounds better than stock Little Dot MKIII?
Yes, I used the Zero DAC in both situations. I guess I will give it more time. I also found some Mullard M8100s for pretty cheap which should hopefully improve things more.- raekwonse
