The Real Meaning Of: SORRY ABOUT YOUR WALLET!

I think HD650, E4c, and Koss KSC-35 cover the bases pretty nicely. For me, at least. The big thing is, the major cost at head-fi isn't really the headphones. It's the amplification.

    $15 for essentially a $200 pen? i'll take one!

Everyone should just buy the Fisher Space pen. No bleeding, it can write on glossy photographs, it's incredibly compact when closed and nice, balanced, and long when open. Plus, it's extremely durable. It sounds gimmicky, but you can get it for fifteen dollars, and it's great. Plus, you can...

    Xin appreciation thread

I'm embarrassed to say this, but even though I was using the right-sized allen wrenches, they must have been low-quality or something; I think I stripped the front screws. I'm too afraid to try again. What can I do!? It's been like this since the day I bought it, in may, and now I can't roll...

which headphone gave you your first EARGASM

SR-80, Gimme Shelter. That was definitely the first. HD650 and even KSC-35 (unamped!) can give it to me, too. "The Bleeding Heart Shows" by the New Pornographers, specifically.

    Best psychadelic albums?

All RIGHT! I don't believe it! I get to introduce you to the greatest '60s band that time forgot... more accessible than the Beatles, even! I hereby CHALLENGE you not to like this CD! Oddessey and Oracle, by The Zombies This is, without a doubt, the finest '60s album I've ever heard, and I...

    Slipknot won a Grammy? What?

HOW TO DISMANTLE AN ATOMIC BOMB WON!? HAHAHAHAHAHAHA Grammy's always have been a joke, always will be. Just look up the winners of the '60s and '70s to see how ass-backward they've always been. In the history of their music, they've been near-correct about five times; Sergeant...

    Amazon Rant

If you buy a lot (probably with free shipping), they offer you an Amazon.com prime trial that lasts 3 months. It is AMAZING, but $89 is just too much for a year's worth of it. However, I've been using standard free shipping for three years, and Amazon.com hasn't let me down once. They've...

    cmoy amp: worth $50?

Jesus, Cmoys have gotten so much better recently. Just around this time last year, the only thing you could pick up on eBay were Altoid tins. Headphone amplification has definitely increased in popularity in the past year.

I have a limited music selection.

If you're into indie of any sort, you gotta get The Soft Bulletin by The Flaming Lips and The Moon and Antarctica by Modest Mouse (my favorite all-time album). And, of course, Turn On The Bright Lights by Interpol (my favorite album currently). All three of these are complete gold from...

Thoughts On My Budget System (Sony Reciever and Fluance Speakers)

My recommendation: Forget surround sound for now. It's not worth it - I mean, if you really wanted it that badly, you'd be better off with a good set of PC speakers. BUT, if you want some really good sound, get a Sonic Impact T-Amp and Wharfedale Diamond 8.3s. I have it, and it is the...

Headphones for a Big Ole Head!!

Don't worry, anything should fit you. I have a head size that's between 7 7/8 and 8 flat, and my Senns and Grados fit fine. As for noise-cancelling, seriously consider whether you could deal with ear canal phones - it's hard to move on without figuring that out.

If I liked Yoshimi will I like Soft Bulletin?

Hm. I'm worried about Spiderbite and Buggin' being at the end, as they hardly seem strong/definite enough to close out an album. Granted, they're not bad songs, but Buggin' hardly feels like the end of something in the way that Waitin' For A Superman is. I'll agree with the sentiment that...

    Sonic Impact Class T Amp?

If it can fit to your purposes, buy it. Search google for "Sonic Impact 6Moons" and there will be a VERY glowing review of it. I've been using it for my Diamond 8.3s and it's been quite nice. Definitely an improvement over the sony that cost 7x as much!

Just how good is the emu 0404?

EXCEPT Duck Hat is going to be using this card for 128k DRM downloads from Yahoo music almost exclusively. Would the Chaintech vs. EMU then become a moot point, as any difference in quality is overshadowed by the sampling difference?
