as a beginner i'll do the best review i can although i'm not a pro.compared to my px100 the sound has more detail.it has as a signature that can give others goosebumps.i remember years ago when i owned the 580 listening to my 497 it reminded me very much of the 580's sound.fantastic...

i've heard the shure e2's and they i believe would if you listened to them would be your pick.

headroom says that the beyerdynamic dt231 are a great set of closed headphones in the sub 100 dollar range.

according to some member's mom's posts this is the case.

try the sennheiser hd497.

to my ears the 497 sounds better than it's cousin the px100.
