Does anyone find the Westone 4 sound to be slightly muffled?
My W4 now sound muffled on its right-side driver, so defective unit is certainly possible (I'm contacting Earphone Solutions to get mine replaced). Maybe yours unfortunately have similar symptoms on both left and right, so get in touch with your seller.- markh78

Just been conned on eBay for a pair of Triplefi 10's - advise needed
If your paypal is linked to your credit card and not your bank account, you can always turn to the credit card company (if paypal isn't helpful that is). They usually do great service especially in fraudulant cases such as this one.- markh78

Westone 4 Impressions and Reviews Thread
I'm not too worried with fixed cable, I mean the day it breaks will be the day I'll dip my toe into the world of customs and get the thing re-molded. In a way, I can't wait for that day to come- markh78

RE0 Dissapointment
OK, I can see that you're hugely disappointed in the sound, but you haven't really given any reason or description as to why (what kind of sound were you expecting from RE0, and what are your perception of the actual sound from RE0?) Standard advice would be to: 1. give it more burn-in, maybe...- markh78

Rank the IEM's you've heard
In terms of SQ Westone 4 > SE535 > TF10pro > Image X10 = RE0 = RE-ZERO > SA6 >>>> EX700 In terms of my personal preference Westone 4 > RE0 > Image X10 > RE-ZERO > SE535 > TF10 pro > SA6 >>>> EX700- markh78

cable issue with se535
Try cleaning the connectors with contact cleaners. I have to say that those swinging connectors are fancy but not too good quality.- markh78

Westone 4 Impressions and Reviews Thread
Well, other than the fact that this thing is pretty expensive and it's not readily available outside US, I think that most stuff have been covered already in previous posts. It's certainly not going to be FOTM kind of IEM, so there won't be much argument between rabid fans and skeptics that are...- markh78

Westone 4 Impressions and Reviews Thread
Just a quick how-to to using Sony hybrids on W4 for those interested. I've used the core of the foam tips that came with SE535, just rip the foams away using sharp knife. (Incidentally, this was the default tip that SE535 was equipped with in the package, and I had to more or less...- markh78

Westone 4 Impressions and Reviews Thread
I've been listening to my W4 extensively over the weekend. There's no striking "feature" to describe how W4 sounds, like extended high with crystal clarity on ER4S, or deep booming base on IE8, or huge soundstage on EX1000, but as others have noted the sound of W4 is very well balanced and...- markh78

what universal iem offers the best isolation?
I don't own it, but had a listen at a shop. They sound great and open, but that openness seems to be the result of poor isolation, and is the poorest I've heard on any IEM. It might be ideal for indoor use, but then I'd use a headphone. Quote:- markh78

Help Me Decide, the Ageless, Epic Debate of the RE-ZERO v.s the RE0
It says in the blog and the shop discription that those adapter free RE-ZERO are bulk item without any packaging (just comes in plastic bag, no box). So it's definitely not something you can get through standard channel via head-direct. In fact, I have a feeling that they are stuff that the...- markh78

Leaving portable hifi - it's too silly
Everyone have so many different requirements when it comes to listening to music, it's just so silly to think that just because portables didn't fit for you, it wouldn't fit anyone else.- markh78

FiiO E5 needed for RE0?
With E5, I didn't notice much SQ improvement. Sure the overall volume and base quantity increased, but then why bother lugging the extra stuff around when you can just use EQ on your DAP? If you really want to use small portable amps, I'd go straight to something more worthwhile like iBasso T3...- markh78

Ibasso D4 / T3 Review Thread
I've been burning in my new T3 for the last 20 hours, and I must say what a great sounding little amp this is! I might be a little daring in saying this, but to my untrained ears the sound quality really do seem to be closely matched to my P-51. I can now finally put my poor T4 to rest, which...- markh78

Head-Direct RE0 Appreciation Thread
I've bought mine when it was $170, and even seeing them on sale for $100 I haven't regretted my purchase one bit (beside, I prefer the old style wiring). And the great thing is, I love my RE0's sound enough that I no longer feel the need to look for anything better. It's comfortable to wear...- markh78

I don't have low profile LOD and don't plan to get one in the near future, so having input and output on the opposite sides I guess it's no go for me... (one of the reason I didn't go for The Shadow either)- markh78

Leaving portable hifi - it's too silly
It all depends when and where most of your listening times are. I listen to most of my music while commuting, so it makes sense for me to just go all for portable setup. All in all, everyone have different requirements, so stereotyping and dismissing the whole business is just silly.- markh78

Ibasso D2 Boa . . . new and smaller . . . with updates on 1st page. .
Maybe, just maybe, that the D2+ phone out isn't making good connection with the great huge socket adaptor that came with HD595? I have the old D2 paired with HD595, and these sound really good, with deep tight base and extended highs.- markh78
