akg 701 with HeadRoom Total BitHead
can i run an akg 701 off a HeadRoom Total BitHead with good results or is it too weak to drive these cans? i have already got the bithead and have been using it for 2 years with a sony mdr-7506, which isn't a bad combo imho- astranovus

66kb/s atrac very usable
just transcoded some 192kb/s mp3 files to atrac3 plus 66kb/s, the 192 were dj radio rips, so no redbook available. and before you cruxify me it is usable. the sound is slightly muffled compared to the 192 file but no distortions, i have tested listening scenarios on the bus with the...- astranovus

128kb/s mp3s - good enough for portable
i just did some abxing with foobar, a bithead and my sennheiser hd650s. i was also using lame's newest mp3 encoding release. test file michael jackson's: "who is it" as i know this track quite well. i did manage to identify 128kb/s in all cases, it was by no means a walk in the park...- astranovus

hd5 - still competitive
just picked up a new hd5 was a bargain-like 66 pounds, that's like 120 dollars. 20gb, nice sound quality, albeit with hiss on my cx300, that goes if you amp though. i'm not into video and fancy colour screens so this could be my player for next few years. anybody else still like the hd5?- astranovus

in general full cans better than iems
what's the general consensus are full cans superior to iems soundwise? i am talking about at home, let's say in bed when there are no external disturbances i personally prefer my ears to massaged by a large driver rather than a tiny iem driver,- astranovus

is my mini-mini cable adequate
hi, i bought a belkin mini-mini cable from an ipod shop in the uk, it trades at 10 pounds about 18 dollars, i'm using it to connect a pa2v2 and a sony mz-rh1 , is this cable adequate for my system, the packaging states 99.9% oxygenfree copper, plus the cable is thickly shielded- astranovus

real porta pro sighting in the U.K.
