If you still love Etymotic ER4, this is the thread for you...
Spent a few days with my new ER2XRs, and these would be perfect for me if it weren't for what I hear as some recessed lower treble. I'm talking around 5 - 6 kHz or so. This is most noticeable with instruments that have a lot of dense, constant energy in that area, like distorted electric guitars...- Phosphenetre

Thanks, I'll look at those. I also remember you mentioning the NewBee foam tips in your KP review, how do those compare? Do they affect the sound in any way?- Phosphenetre

Hey Antdroid, just wondering what foam tips you think fit the best on the KP and also do not hurt the treble presence and treble extension, or turn the sound muddy or boomy? Sonically, the only thing I find the KP doing not quite neutral is the 3k region, which to my ears sounds about 3 dB...- Phosphenetre

Fair point, and you're right about different anatomies and different opinions. But the very fact that even the stock supplied ear tips do NOT stay in place and slide down that long stem during normal use is evidence of significant design oversight, isn't it? The 'slip-stop' rings are a clever...- Phosphenetre

All this talk reminds me of how much Moondrop missed the mark with usability and ergonomics, on the Kanas Pro. If the mark on the stem is supposed to indicate where the tips are supposed to be pushed until, how about you make the mark/spacer raised enough to actually hold at least the STOCK tips...- Phosphenetre

On the Kanas Pro, do we know for sure that the tips are only supposed to be pushed down the nozzle until the ring-like marking? Because even the stock tips keep pushing down lower than that for me.- Phosphenetre

I've had my KPE for three days now, and it's had about a total of 40 hours of burn in so far. While I'm much happier with the sound than I was out of the box (whether this is actual burn in or confirmation bias or just my brain adjusting to its sound signature is up for debate), my main...- Phosphenetre

Kanas Pro arrived today. I can see that the manufacturer suggests 100 hours of burn in, and fellow owners here also find noticeable differences after burn in, but I decided to try them on straight out of the box anyway. First impression: a severe smack in the face from the high mids around 3...- Phosphenetre

Kanas Pro owners, what tips give the best combination of isolation and even treble response without roll-off? I'm looking at that big 11 - 12 kHz peak and the 7 kHz valley, as seen in @antdroid's measurements in his review.- Phosphenetre

How do you find the KP in terms of neutrality and evenness through the entire frequency range? I've been looking for an IEM in the $200 ish range that'll sound as close to my studio monitors and calibrated headphones, to use for quick mixing on the go, monitoring on stage and critical listening.- Phosphenetre

I think this is generally true of speakers and headphones that present things in an unhyped way. Good studio monitors in a proper room, playing material that's mixed and mastered to not be fatiguing at high SPL, of course. The honest presentation scales well.- Phosphenetre

Neutral, accurate and monitor-like IEMs in the $200 range?
Thanks, this one's actually on my list because it looks very promising on paper, but I haven't found a review from any familiar reviewers I trust yet, maybe because it's still a fairly new release. The other reviews that are around seem to have mixed opinions on the treble, some calling it a...- Phosphenetre

Just wanted to confirm what you meant here - you mean you find the KP to be neutral in the mid bass and sub bass without EQ, right? Right, so while they have the least 'kick' or 'body' among the 4 IEMs you own, are you saying they're still the most neutral in that aspect (with the other three...- Phosphenetre

Neutral, accurate and monitor-like IEMs in the $200 range?
Thanks for the suggestion. I've tried the 535 before and found the treble to not really extend well enough, at least for my intended purpose. Also, EQing is not always an option, if I use these live for example and my engineer doesn't have a board that can EQ the global aux to my channel.- Phosphenetre

I've been eyeing the Moondrops that are within my $200 budget range (Kanas Pro, Aria, Crescent), looking to pick up a neutral IEM with realistic, natural timbre and presentation. This means not just 'flat' frequency response on a graph, but natural timbre, tone, body and weight to instruments. I...- Phosphenetre
