Dell DJ- why are they not popular?
its hip to get the iPod. most people dont know much about any other player. I've never seen anyone with any other HD-MP3 player other than an iPod (due to heavy advertisement and slick looks) or an Archos (most likely because they used to be the first ones to come out with the newest stuff)...- e-r0ck

Is the iPod the only thing that can use the Ratings (****) from iTunes?
Quote: Originally posted by Sweet Spot If you're talking about the IHP official firmware, the announcement was made a bit before the beginning of last week ! Not to mention that it's been talked about here (head-fi) as well: The actual post was done BY the Iriver team. (hence the blue...- e-r0ck

Is the iPod the only thing that can use the Ratings (****) from iTunes?
Quote: Originally posted by Sweet Spot The Rio Karma utilizes the same rating system, which is enabled by using the packaged software I believe. And with J.RIvers Media Center 10, playlists can be made in a similar fashion. Not to mention the up and comming Red Chair software for the IHP...- e-r0ck

Hard-drive player life expectancy expectation
i bet they could last a good 5 or 6 years for you. the HD might fail somewhere in that period, but im sure it could last after a simple formatting. the question is, do you WANT it after that long. by that time there will be 10 times cooler stuff thats smaller and has more features and longer...- e-r0ck

Apple trying to patent the GUI on MP3 players
pfft. i dont get why anyone would support this... any consumer i mean. why would you want one company to have the rights to anything. i had an ipod and an archos recorder and an archos multimedia. now i have an ihp. i hope someone kicks iriver's ass next year so the technology can move on and...- e-r0ck

iHP-100 series rating
i'd say 4/5 just because there is room for improvement. i wish the joystick left\right would function like a page up or page down on your computer. so when you hit left or right it would skip an entire "page" or screen of files or folders. then the play and stop buttons would be left alone to...- e-r0ck

i never had a problem with mine. no hard drive spin up, no errors or lock ups, no brown case . I cant stand the argument that its easier to get around on the iPod. It is intuituve, but i can too a lot more in a lot shorter time on my iRiver cuz i dont have to move my hand all around the...- e-r0ck

itunes vs. WMA: Round 2
i never really understood why people chose either one. i mean, the itunes store being easy to download from is neat n all, but why would you want to go with a format that restricts you so much? i just dont get it, i suppose.- e-r0ck

iRiver iHP owners: Tell me the bad
the only thing i dont like in the iHP is the lack of an on the fly playlist feature. other than that im completely untempted by other mp3 players. that says a lot because no matter what i have i'm still curious about other similar gadgets. obviously, the joystick isn't as fast as a scroll...- e-r0ck

Building the Perfect Portable Player
i personally think the iHP is a perfect mp3 player. if it just had a faster start up time and on the fly playlists (which i admit is HUGE), i'd be happier. the iPod's scroll wheel is the only thing im still jealous of. the iHP is pretty stable in my opinion but, just like any other player, a...- e-r0ck

Nitrus 4gb Good Picture
it doesn't really look anything like the ipod's white color... just like another color they made to differentiate between the 1.5 gig and the 4gig. i dont really think they're copying apple's success with the color. i just think its similar so everyone assumes it was influenced by the apple.- e-r0ck
