I am getting increasing more songs that are by a band that has "the" in their name. In my singles, I arrange alphabetically by folders for letter...

So, I have tons under T now. Do you guys leave "the" in the name, or take it out..

What is the "standard" for music collections
The Beatles
Beatles
Beatles, The

Thanks!

You should do a poll

But for me, I leave it in front. Their name is The Beatles after all.. Not Beatles, The or Beatles ... I'm just that kind
of person though. I like things to stay very clean and never alter any information

i usually put "the" afterwards, so "Beatles, The".

actually, thats just for my folder structure, for the actuall file name and tags i leave it as "The Beatles"

I always drop the "the".

For classical stuff its always by label first, then alphabetical
order, for all the jazz and pop its just alphabetical, then
for all the sacd's its back to label first, then alphabetical.

And for label, its the origional label name. So columbia
stays as columbia, not sony. And DGG stays DGG not
Universal. Where it gets complicated is if there are 2 or
more labels on the disk at the same time. Which there are
for a bunch of the sacd's.

Using iTunes, it's "The Beatles", but alphabetized under "B". Best of both worlds.

Directory structure though is "T". I think of them as "B" and besides, there's too many "The's".
