Sony Z1R vs Beyer T5p 2nd Gen
Hi Gang, Haven't visited the forum in a while and happy fast approaching holiday season. I'm itching for new gear again and I'm current eyeing the Sony Z1R, even if it sounds really really bad, I still love how it looks :P. I know the main thread is about 700 ish pages long, and it's...- wudai_e

New Beyerdynamic T5p 2nd generation
I was lurking around this thread for a while because I want to buy a pair. Seems Beyer just increase the MSRP the t5p 2nd gen by another 100 dollars. It was 1099 couple weeks ago. It is now 1199 at their official website. Some reputable vendors already raised their price too accordingly, some...- wudai_e

Sennheiser HD800 S Impressions Thread (read first post for summary)
Perfectly valid points. I'm only speaking from using the HD800 as a PC/Mac based system. If you don't have the ability to EQ, I can certainly see the appeal of the S. It took me a while to tame my own HD800 to get it just how I like it. Plus I think with the S, it's like adding salt to your...- wudai_e

Sennheiser HD800 S Impressions Thread (read first post for summary)
From reading some of the impression in this thread, I keep asking myself: Is it worth spending another 1.5 grand for the new HD800 where a bit of tweaking of your EQ sliders will do the same job just fine provided all your front end is not limiting the original HD800? I think I know the...- wudai_e

AKG M220 semi-open studio headphones
Just received these today and burning it in. Right out of the box, I'll say this... this is the best 70 bucks I've spend on headphones. My current headphone rig: Parasound Zdac--->Bryston--->Senn HD800. Compare to the Senn, you loose some sparkle and air in the highs, some sweetness in volcals...- wudai_e

LCD-3 / HD-800 amp
Quote: But if you think about the possibilities of amp upgrades in the future and how HD800 will scale with each gear change, they are still a good choice, even tho an expensive one. I actually find the HD800 to be the perfect tool to find the "hidden junk" in my music collection. To...- wudai_e

LCD-3 / HD-800 amp
Quote: Totally agree, I don't have the LCD3 but if power and juice is what the headphone demands, the Bryston delivers in spades. I was luke warm when I got my HD800, thought it's a bit too finicky on the treble during the first week. Then I bought the BHA-1 thinking if the amp doesn't work...- wudai_e

Sennheiser HD800 Appreciation Thread
So long story short: New HD800 around new year -> First listen with my Benchmark DAC1 -> treble hurt my ears a little with my favorite playlist -> thought about returning my pair -> bought a Bryston amp -> start to like it -> play LP through it -> where are the shrieking peaks? OMG they...- wudai_e

Better DAC than the Anedio D2 DAC? (sub $2000, good with Macs, integrated headphone amp, balanced xlr outs)
If you are looking for a DAC that do not + or - anything, as far as I can tell, check out the Benchmark line. You'll have to spend significant more to get something "better". I put "" there mainly because it'll only sound different from then on up the price bracket, not necessarily better.- wudai_e

HD-800 VS HD-700/ Amp Problem
The problem is, even if you do get the HD700, wouldn't you be itching to get a better amp any ways? Then after the better amp, you'd be wondering:"hmmm... I've got a better amp, now I wonder what the HD800 would sound l with this setup... " See what I'm trying to say?? Never settle for...- wudai_e
