iBasso DX120 pure DAP player. Balanced, single ended, line out and 2 micro SD slots. FW 2.9.21 now out!
We have requested that feature for dx120 - not to charge internal battery while in usb-dac mode. That works now. So "no", it will not drain your battery if you connect it to mobile device in usb-dac mode. But that's not the whole story.- andi16

iBasso DX120 pure DAP player. Balanced, single ended, line out and 2 micro SD slots. FW 2.9.21 now out!
Hello Paul. I've tried the current firmware, here my initial observations: 1. There's an improvement: a) switch dx120 into dac mode, b) connect to a device - current draw is low. (I'm guessing dx120 is not charging internal battery) 2. If I keep it connected and switch dx120 into dap mode - usb...- andi16

iBasso DX120 pure DAP player. Balanced, single ended, line out and 2 micro SD slots. FW 2.9.21 now out!
So yes, I think it's just a matter of high expectations on my side. I didn't find it out initially because it was a spontaneous purchase. I'm not blaming anyone, I'm just saying it (dac w/o charge) would make it almost perfect experience. It would be a replacement for a dap or usb-dac without...- andi16

Same here, I've bought it without a proper research but without that function (USB DAC w/o charge) - I'm considering selling mine.- andi16

iBasso DX120 pure DAP player. Balanced, single ended, line out and 2 micro SD slots. FW 2.9.21 now out!
I'm starting to like my dx120, but there's one thing making it almost impossible. When I connect dx120 to my android phone (via usb cable), dx120 will drain (like really fast) my phones battery by charging dx120 internal one. I would be very useful feature to disable usb charging in dac mode...- andi16

USB Audio Player PRO (UAPP): 24- and 32-bit playback, ubiquitous USB audio support for Android
I didn't follow this thread from the beginning, so excuse me if it was mention before. I love UAPP, I think its great app, but still, some small(or not) "things" are missing. For me what is missing is better stream error handling (meaning how app handles connection problems). So for...- andi16

Cayin i5 Lossless Android DAP with AKM4490 DAC supporting 32/384 PCM + 64/128 DSD
Sure You can recover!, almost any android device has a "special mode"(recovery or/and fastboot mode) just to "reflash" whole firmware/rom to factory state. Root on android is very useful, especially for advanced users.- andi16

I guess we can summarize: no "user" fix for high-pitch sound issue when charging. I'm also waiting for replacement. Last time it took exactly one month, I'm hoping for faster response this time...- andi16

Mine does the same high pitch tone while charging. My previous mojo unit was faulty (was turning itself off) and I got it replaced - but he didn't had this high pitch tone issue. So I'm also thinking about getting it replaced.- andi16

Sony PHA-3 balanced portable dac/amp
Usually, You just need the right cable - but Your headphones doesn't have detachable cable, so this is getting more complicated. Imagine that Your headphones are out of warranty and a dog/cat just used the cable as a "chewing gum" (true story) and now they doesn't work, but You still love...- andi16

Dunu DN-2000 - Hybrid Impressions Thread (It's Here!)
I can confirm what was already it this thread. The "back side" is connected by glue (+tight fit) - so its pretty easy to open it. You can put something under this little "handle" that is sticking out of the back element and gently push it up/back.- andi16

Sony PHA-3 balanced portable dac/amp
Actually, I also use pha3 with xperia ultra, I'm on latest firmware (android 5.0.2). But I have xperia sp with android 4.3 and it works the same. Yes, I know - additional "pin" that is in/near the micro usb plug - I can only guess what is it. But my point is - You don't need this original cable to make pha3 work.- andi16

Quote: I'm using pha3 with "el cheapo" otg cable (micro-micro usb) with xperia phone, there is nothing "proprietary" about the cable - extra pin is part of the OTG "mode" and as far as I know there are no electronics/elements in the cable and it works. Please notice - OTG is not on...- andi16

Sony PHA-3 balanced portable dac/amp
If You decide that K712 + PHA3 is going to stay with You for "longer" period of time, then yes, it's worth it and balanced is definitely better. I do it myself (conversion), but is should not be expensive to add socked to headphones or to change plugs on cable (if thats the case).- andi16
