JVC HA-RX700 Mods
The issue of bass is very subjective. As a 68 year old I got used to a certain level of bass being the "norm" in a speaker or a headphone. That "acceptable level" was the result of a standard set by audiophile reviewers of the era. Over time the level of "desired" bass has grown enormously to...- craftech

Where can I find 3-inch replacement earpads for Audio Technica ATH-7?
Waimak, How did you make out. Did any of those fit? None of them seem like the right size. I can't find the right size myself so I was wondering how you made out? Regards, John- craftech

Where do you stand on the headphones vs. speakers debate?
I have always preferred the room filling sound over the in-your-head sound, but I like both. John- craftech

Where can I find 3-inch round replacement earpads?
Apparently, Sennheiser HD414 and Grado SR60i and 80i are 76mm (3-inch) diameter. Anyone know any velour pads for these? John- craftech

What do great mids sound like?
One way you can evaluate what would "good sounding mids" sound like would be to go to a high end audio store and listen to speakers that have been reviewed as reproducing vocals and mids really well. That would give you a good idea as to what they should sound like when you test headphones. Or...- craftech

Where can I find 3-inch round replacement earpads?
My Audio-Technica ATH-7 Headphones have been sitting idle for years because the "pleather" earpads rotted out and disappeared a long time ago. They take 3-inch round earpads, but I cannot find replacement earpads listed by size anywhere. They only seem to list them as replacements for...- craftech

Where can I find 3-inch replacement earpads for Audio Technica ATH-7?
They weren't available from the manufacturer, but Thanks anyway for the suggestion. I hope it is OK with the moderators, but I would respectfully ask the moderators if they would move this to the Headphones (Full Size) forum for me? Perhaps I should have done that in the first place. ...- craftech

Thanks squallkiercosa, I'll check with the manufacturer to see if they have those in round pads. I just edited my original post to be more clear. Regards, John- craftech

Where can I find 3-inch replacement earpads for Audio Technica ATH-7?
We don't have any stores like that nearby except for BestBuy and they don't have many earpads to choose from. Moreover, the original "pleather" earpads rotted out and were removed years ago so I have no idea what the optimal distance was. At this point they are sitting on a shelf and have been...- craftech

Any of these better than RS Soldering Iron?
I know it costs more, but I have had one of these for fifteen years or more: http://www.partsexpress.com/pe/showd...number=372-120 They are worth the additional cost if you want a soldering iron that you can leave on and adjust the temperature so that it doesn't overheat and have to be...- craftech

What headphone to get with $300?????
Although they are getting harder and harder to find the JVC HADX3 is an accurate sounding well built set of closed phones that I use as reference monitors for recording. Grado SR-60 < or > Westone Um1?
Unless you really need one there is little to recommend an IEM (earphone) over a real pair of headphones. The SR60 is a remarkable value in an open headphone and it is unlikely to fail prematurely like an IEM or become annoying in your ear like an IEM or cause you to rationalize that companies...- craftech

The JVC HADX3 fit the bill perfectly. They sound great, are durable, and isolate well enough for me to shoot theatrical stage productions with them. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...lance&n=172282 Actually they are cheaper directly from Beach Audio. Shipping is $5...- craftech

B&H has the Sennheiser H-19545 - Ear Cushions for $3.95
These fit the PX100 for improved sound. Some people dye them black, but more importantly some have complained that they can't find them. B&H was out of them for awhile, but they e-mailed me last night that they are now in stock. I ordered 5 pair and chose USPS shipping which is cheap...- craftech

Then some of you guys wonder why I hate Shure earphones so much. Despite the denial from some this type of post is a weekly event here. Sennheiser CX 300 IEM (a personal review)
I wonder if Future Sonics made these for Sennheiser? The Sennheiser IE3 was the Future Sonics EM3. The Sennheiser Evolution 300 wireless system is now packaged with a pair of EM3's. Their collaboration seems to be growing. http://mixonline.com/news/audio_futu...new/index.html The...- craftech
