Hi, Haven't been here for awhile. My Audio-Technica ATH-7 Headphones have been sitting idle for years because the earpads rotted out a long time ago. They take 3-inch round earpads, but I cannot find replacement earpads listed by size anywhere. They only seem to list them as replacements for specific models and that model hasn't got a replacement earpad listed anywhere. Does anyone know where I can find 3-inch replacement earpads? Thanks, John

It's a better idea to just go to a store that sells many headphones and bring a ruler or tape measure.  You will want to feel the earpad in person as a picture or description might not be enough.
You will want something with similar distance of the driver to your ear or else the sound will change.

We don't have any stores like that nearby except for BestBuy and they don't have many earpads to choose from. Moreover, the original "pleather" earpads rotted out and were removed years ago so I have no idea what the optimal distance was. At this point they are sitting on a shelf and have been for more years than I can count. Appreciate the suggestion PFULMTL Regards, John

If you don't find anything you could try those.

They weren't available from the manufacturer, but Thanks anyway for the suggestion.

I hope it is OK with the moderators, but I would respectfully ask the moderators if they would move this to the Headphones (Full Size) forum for me?  Perhaps I should have done that in the first place.

Thanks,

John

Hi guys,

I have recently had the same problem myself.  Upon removing the earpads, I noticed that the ear pieces are simply  80mm flat discs with the drivers in centre taking up about 32mm.  I think that 70mm - 80mm generic pads would work, so long as there was sufficient room for the drivers.  What I have found so far as possibilities are these:

70mm : http://www.amazon.co.uk/Replacement-Compatible-audio-technica-MDR-V150-Packaged/dp/B004SHFPFG/ref=sr_1_10?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1362986903&sr=1-10

80mm: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Earpads-Replacement-Compatible-Sennheiser-Packaged/dp/B00531TVGA/ref=sr_1_8?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1362986903&sr=1-8

80mm: http://www.ebay.com/itm/160808939608

plus there are a few more like the last one on eBay.

I myself am going with the 80mm set from Amazon, as they appear to have good reviews, but I would be interested in hearing what you both decide.

I hope this helps a bit, and if I have this wrong then please let me know!!.

Waimak,

How did you make out.  Did any of those fit?  None of them seem like the right size.  I can't find the right size myself so I was wondering how you made out?

Regards,

John
