The discovery thread!
Good call on these, I had them on my radar all ready and they had the benefit of being available from Amazon. Sound lovely, just what I was after in that respect, and fit perfectly. Every parts looks and feels pretty damn big, cheap and plasticky though. Anybody know of other IEMs with a soft...- Lourdes

The discovery thread!
I've avoided any purchases since March. Has anything new with a similar sound to the FXD80 or CKN70 appeared since then? Detailed, some sub-bass (doesn't need to be mad bassy), small canal friendly, not over ear or j-cord, anything up to $150. Actually that's a lie, I got the GR02 Bass Edition...- Lourdes

Sennheiser MM550-X or Momentum?
Wear any headphone and you'll adjust to the sound, unless it's really awful. I loved the Momentums, only they didn't fit me because of the small cups. They would be my go-to portables if they did. Damn you Sennheiser.- Lourdes

Sennheiser MM550-X or Momentum?
If you're happy with the sound of the MM550-X and like their practicality then why not go with them? That's what I do if I came to that conclusion. Having no wires and your phone out of the way is very nice indeed. I'm partly there with the Samsung HS3000.- Lourdes

Cosmic Ears - new CIEM company with great prices (including Hybrid designs!)
So when can we actually order these? I've been waiting since October I think. What have they been doing all this time? I remember the cables going out of stock and then the BA4 was announced, now they list loads of products but still no ordering.- Lourdes

...isn't as 'tight' and impactful, though on the whole they are easier to listen to and a bit more comfortable. The cable is horrible and loves to loops and tangle, I wasn't aware of the j-cord but that part is fine as it's long enough (**** you MH1C) and there's a slide adjust to take up the slack.- Lourdes

Rugged Portable Headphones Advice
The V6's sound bad, really thin and nasty treble. HD25's are a good choice, slightly sibilant (but you soon adjust) and honestly bombproof despite being made of plastic, mine have ben shoved in all sorts of things, squished and crushed with no ill effect. You can replace every part and said...- Lourdes

Sennheiser MOMENTUM Review
I disagree on the first point, I found the soundstage to be bigger on the Momentum and the greater detail really added to this. Perhaps this is due to fit, although I agree on your other points. I wouldn't say the Momentum lacks in bass, the 1R has comparatively too much which spoils some things...- Lourdes

Tips for carrying around IEM's?
There's a vast selection of cases on eBay for a dollar or upwards, I've got a ton. For smaller IEM's cases sold for holding memory cards (not the solid plastic ones) work too. Properly wrapping your cables over-under is a must as well.- Lourdes

The discovery thread!
If they paid $170 then they're making all of $30-40 after postage and fees. Even if they aren't buying in shops and reselling then there won't be that much more profit as margins are poor in Japan due to how many middlemen there are in most distribution chains there.- Lourdes

Mid-Fi Closed Portable Headphone Battle 2012 Discussion V3 [FINAL]
I really disagree with this. I've only seen it lead to manufacturers spending more on marketing and increasing prices, especially on their fashion-oriented designs which attract a stonking great markup.- Lourdes

Sony MH1C better than CIEMs or just another ATH-M50?
They're quite lovely for vocals, but rather unbalanced otherwise. I'd say they sit around the top so far as single dynamic drivers are concerned, but I wouldn't really go beyond that, except with regards to bass - because most BAs have little to none so you lose out on a lot.- Lourdes

Little brother absolutely wants beats for Christmas. Refuses Sennheiser, Beyerdynamic, PSB, Focal and V-Moda
Just let him have beats if he wants them, no need to be elitist, he's eleven ***... When you take him to the cinema do you insist on independent German films from the 1960's? And will you arrange a cheese tasting for his next birthday party?- Lourdes

Sony has new headphones, MDR-1R
I returned my 1R's, despite the comfort (so good...) they just weren't portable enough for my purposes. I'd be worried about scuffing up the soft leather pads and headband, and I don't know how well they'd cope with being squashed or dropped - a lot of plastic there. SQ wise there's too much...- Lourdes

Sennheiser MOMENTUM Review
I've just scraped away at part of one cup and have yet to hit any metal, I'm not going further as I need to return these. If there was any aluminium it's thickly coated with plastic which makes you wonder why they'd use it as it's only a selling point and desirable when the metal is exposed.- Lourdes

Sennheiser MOMENTUM Review
LOL evidence? I own the headphones, the cups are made from plastic. Or is this some new form of aluminium that feels and sounds like plastic and doesn't get cold like normal aluminium.- Lourdes

Sennheiser MOMENTUM Review
They are definitely plastic not aluminium. These are very built headphones, HD25's are indestructible despite being plastic and these are more solid still. Headband can get bent out of shape ....under pressure that would break other headbands, but you can get it back into shape since it's metal.- Lourdes

Sony MDR-V6 for music and games?
They're not really for music enjoyment, at least I wouldn't use them for it. The treble is rather thin and harsh and the overall sound isn't much fun.- Lourdes
