A totally un-unique problem.
For question 2 I don't think there's any quality loss, but it's pointless to convert MP3 to FLAC.- TehNomad

Broken plug on my ESW9s
I'm not in NYC if that's what you mean by "the city". I go to school in Ann Arbor, MI and my hometown is in Boston. Is it possible to screw up the retermination so badly that it makes your headphones useless? That's mostly what I'm afraid of. I think my dad might have a soldering iron and...- TehNomad

Broken plug on my ESW9s
I was listening to my ESW9s a couple of months ago and I stood up and yanked the plug while it was still connected to my computer. Ever since I've had to wiggle it into place into any jack to get sound out of both channels. Right now, it's gotten to a point where I can't get get both channels...- TehNomad

Broken PK3s =(
The insulation is worn through near the jack but I'm not sure if the cable is split. I bought them off ebay, so I'm emailing the seller (it's not head-direct) but I'm not hopeful for an exchange. I'll probably order another pair of PK3s from head-direct.- TehNomad

Broken PK3s =(
The right channel doesn't work. Does anyone know if I can exchange/replace them? Otherwise, I'm thinking of upgrading, perhaps to PK2s or OK3s. Can anyone recommend any other earbuds/portable headphones? (budget is less than $100, not interested in IEMs) I also have a broken LOD cable that...- TehNomad

Xonar Essence STX: Sneak Peek!
Does the headphone amp compare with a ~$200 desktop amp like the Millet Starving Student/Hybrid or Little Dot I+? I might consider getting one for college next year along with new headphones.- TehNomad

Anyone have success installing the 5.40a drivers on Windows 7? I can install it under Vista compatibility mode, but it doesn't playback sound.- TehNomad

treating myself to some headphones
Closed blocks most of the sound around you. But the A700 is much inferior in sound quality to the AD700 I've heard.- TehNomad

Who took advantage of the K601 from Headroom for $89?
What would be a good desktop amp to go with the K601? Would a Millet Hybrid do the job? Little Dot I+?- TehNomad

My Fiio's interconnect broke.
That looks good, except that it's really long. Is there one on ebay that's like less than a foot? Do you know how much the Apple Store will charge me? -
My Fiio's interconnect broke.
I'm wondering how I should replace it. I can try sending it back to DealExtreme, but that will take a while to ship. Is there anywhere I can get a small 3.5mm male to 3.5mm cable for cheap (as in, not exceeding twice the cost of the Fiio)? Also, my 5.5gen iPod video only plays the right...- TehNomad

Best for Classical: DT880 or HD-600?
I've found that there are so many differing views on the best headphones for classical. I've seen people recommend the HD600, HD650, K701, DT880, D2000 with no clear majority. I think the reason is that people have different tastes in classical music styles, i.e. symphonies/chamber...- TehNomad

Fiio amps?
I just got my Fiio in the mail today. Here are some initial impressions using it with my 5.5gen iPod and Yuin PK3s. The most noticeable thing is that you can crank up the volume really loud. Without the Fiio, the highest volume possible with the iPod isn't quite ear-shattering, but with the...- TehNomad

MP-3 users, don't you regret going into "audiphile" relams ?
I have mostly illicit V0s on my hard drive, with a few FLACs of albums that I can't find in V0. I rip all my CDs to FLAC though, for archival purposes.- TehNomad

Grado comfort?
I got the HD414 pads for my SR60s and soaked them in water overnight. After about four hours, they start to irritate. They're fine when you lie down on the pillow, I fall asleep with them a lot.- TehNomad

Need upgrade advice quick [ebay only]
I've never heard of the D2000s being recommended for classical, I thought they were mostly for electronic/hip-hop (which I do have some). EDIT: Oh, and it turns out my friend just got D2000s. Him and I were thinking that I should get something different, so we can compare and whatnot.- TehNomad
