Have you ever plugged a real Apple USB-C cable (i.e., not purchased on Amazon) into an Apple device? It's a very solid connection with almost zero play...not sure what they do differently to a supposedly universal spec'd connector.

This is true - which is why it is so much easier to use an iPad for bit perfect streaming. The iPad (or iPhone) automatically switches the output to match the format. AirPlay ignores all of this and should be avoided for best quality.

Congrats! I'm sweating bullets of FOMO with my MJ2, but having briefly owned Folkvangr I know I won't be able to take the MJ3's heat here in Florida. I also need to keep the tubes' warmness to offset the Arya's sharpness.

Oh boy...it was a while ago. I want to say I started with 400, then 2,000, then polished with Cape Cod. I think it brings some uniformity to the MJ2 as the switches, screw heads, and even the tubes are shiny and reflective.

Do it! My secondhand MJ2 had a gnarly scratch on the volume knob, so I ordered a replacement from Schiit. In the interim, I took a shot at polishing the old knob and got it pretty close to a mirror finish. Ended up preferring it over the OG finish and never installed the replacement.
