PM me if you come across any Melz tubes. There are some styles and years worth much more than others. Caveat emptor. Thanks All, appreciate the responses! I might see what I can find in EU over the next week - you never know I suppose. Otherwise some food for thought on my return!
Are they measuring more distortion in the same channel both times? Maybe their test equipment, or methodology, is f'ed.ASR is not very respected here but they are the first to review Kara and they like it. However, they show uneven channel SE distortion, and that was already an issue in their review of Freya S. Is this a fluke? A fluke that they seem to catch every time or a channel to channel parts variations?

It's the ranking based on said measurements that is questionable.
It’s easy enough to reverse the channels to check the equipment. Are they measuring more distortion in the same channel both times? Maybe their test equipment, or methodology, is f'ed.
I am using and liking the PSvane 6SN7s. Just over $100 on Amazon......Tubes for Freya+
What's the general consensus for a "step up" tube from the default JJ tubes in the Freya+. Not looking to spend too much just interested in something that's different enough to hear the change. Maybe it's good or bad to my ears, but curious as to what changes I mightseehear.
I had a Kara here as part of the Schiitmeet a couple of weeks ago. I thought it impressive, tried it with various headphones and it drove all with plenty of ooomph. Recommended.Morning all, I've got my finger hovering over the Add To Cart button for a Kara as the first part of a new system. It's going to take a little while to get all the funds I need for an amp and speakers, but the preamp serves some immediate needs and also would bring headphone listening back into my main room. [Headphone amp moved upstairs to a listening nook.]
I am curious what kinds of headphones one might reasonably expect to be able to drive satisfactorily with the Kara? I have ZMF Vibro MkII's that I know will be fine, but what about harder to drive 'phones? What's a good theoretical limit for having enough juice to do a good job?
And lastly, is the Kara going to be too much for my Final Audio E5000 iems? They seem to love just as much power as my ZMFs but I don't want to hurt them!
MePhone... err iPhone... otherwise known as "the phone that now has the features I had 2-4 years ago".Happy iPhone Eve to you and yours...funny how after years of product launches, I've begun associating the Fall season with Apple phones more so than pumpkins or leaves.
It'll be nice to not have to worry about USB hubs anymore, the iPhone 15 (or perhaps 15 Pro/Pro Max only?) can push out "up to 4.5 watts to accessories via USB-C. In comparison, Lightning on previous iPhones would output significantly less, about 0.3 watts maximum."
This one is popular.I agree that the market is small and that it is unlikely unless Jason gets bored.... But Syn basically happened because Jason got bored. I will continue to hope.
That said, I was searching for an external crossover just last week, anyone have any recommendations for current products?
