Differences between the HFI-580 and HFI-780?
I think they both have the same extension into lower freq. The 580 has a bit more impact but I think the 780 has cleaner bass. If you want good raw, deep bass go for the 580.- hawker800mech

Opinions on Ultrasone Headphones...?
The Beyerdynamic 250 ear pads fit well on the 580, 680 and 780 cans. They do change the sound a bit, though.- hawker800mech

Beginner Rock Headphones?
I had Grado SR125 and did not like them at all for rock. They didn't have the bass impact nor did they go deep enough. Very detailed and open soundstage, though.- hawker800mech

Denon AH-D1001 review
I had Senn HD580's prior and like the D1001 better due to the low end. They aren't as open as the Senns though. I think they sound good without an amp.- hawker800mech

Ultrasone HFI 580 vs Denon D1000: Fair comparison?
I have both the D1001 and HFI-580. I like the 580s more for "rock" and the D1001 for acoustic music. To me the D1001 are more detailed. But, overall I like the 580s more for their bass extension and fuller sound.- hawker800mech

Can the foam cover color the sound? (Beyer V6)
The foam could change the sound a bit. Don't be afraid to pull on the ear pads a bit and use your finger to tuck the foam under the pads better. I had to do that for a pair of 7506's I had.- hawker800mech
