Powered by USB and works great, a little scuffed on the end plate corners and a light scratch on the back (see photos). It has 4 rubber/gel feet on the bottom. Grado driver cuts out, but returns when volume is adjusted - do I just recable?
Quote: With the channel not working I am getting a difference of resistances between the channels. Left channel (faulty) to ground is 88 ohms while good channel to ground is at 66. Interestingly, when I measured right and left channels the voltage applied by the multimeter made the...- Tetromino

Dead/quiet channel on Dual Turntable - cartridge?
Update: Connected each pair of tone arm wires together with a crocodile clip and measured the resistance across the pin and shield of the RCA connectors. Both returned identical results of approx 200 ohms. I am now fairly sure this is a cartridge issue and not the result of my wiring job! Does...- Tetromino

Dead/quiet channel on Dual Turntable - cartridge?
I've just finished recabling a Dual CS503-1 because one of the channels was dead. I have continuity from the start of the tone arm wires right up to the RCA connectors but the problem persists. I have reversed the Left & Right connectors to make sure it is the turntable not the amp (tested with...- Tetromino

Grado driver cuts out, but returns when volume is adjusted - do I just recable?
OK I think I will just go with the recable and see what happens; as you say the driver is unlikely to be damaged as it does function well most of the time. I'm not really a fan of the Grado cable anyway. I'm praying the issue is not with the solder interface between the cable end and the driver...- Tetromino

Grado driver cuts out, but returns when volume is adjusted - do I just recable?
Quote: I would say that there is definitely an issue with the headphones as I bought them from eBay knowing they are in a semi-working condition, with the intention of fixing them (loose connections are quite common so I thought I could recable). I've tested them from a variety of...- Tetromino

Grado driver cuts out, but returns when volume is adjusted - do I just recable?
I've acquired a pair of Grado SR-60s that are occasionally cutting out on the left channel, but this is easily remedied by just turning the volume up and back down again. I can't seem to artificially produce the cutting out by manipulating the cable in any way, it just happens seemingly at...- Tetromino

Music tagger/organizer
I used to use a combination of foobar's freedb component and Mp3Tag, although I still had to search my own artwork. You can use iTunes to get artwork for most albums however, and then copy into folders/tags. I don't think there's one perfect program that will do everything just the way you...- Tetromino

Question about LAME
The rule is never transcode upwards in quality e.g. 128kbps mp3 to FLAC as this degrades sound quality/is a waste of space. If you want better quality tracks you got to re-rip I'm afraid..- Tetromino
