HermannS, can you read the values of resistors to the output connectors in the output stage? I think they will reflect the output impedance of 005.

They said the early boot loader with the charging bug was not updated properly by the updater in the OS, so if the factory installed OS (ver 0.5 ~ 0.6) had the buggy boot loader causing the charging problem, it was not updated by the further updates yet. Tricky.

I've not heard that flash memories can be affected by magnetic fields. I suppose a more dangerous gear would be a mechanical watch, but I doubt the magnetic slider can be a real treat unless it is attached to a metallic mechanism intentionally.

It took about 2min from booting, but actually you can access every song after 30 sec from booting without file update.

Re: Scanning time It takes reasonably short time upon power on if the contents of the memory cards are not updated. It takes long time only when new files are added to the card, or some files are deleted (hence I recommend deleting files from M's UI directly). Card swapping can be troublesome...

cooperpwc, I really don't know. I believe it has nothing to do with balanced transmission. I found they said the jack used gives proper pressure without causing accidental damages. Maybe it was cheaper for them to make? :)

The 24/192 was introduced at least 3 years before the M, and they discontinued the 24/192 realizing that the M is better. Developing a better product is not blamable imo. Remember that the 24/192 was one of the best dacs in its price range.
