Well guys I've come to a final decision. I'm keeping the CalyxM. Yes its querky the odd time but it sounds to good for me to let go. Can anyone point me to a cheap case for this thing. I'm really not to crazy about spending 100 bones on a overpriced leather case from Calyx

The only other case I know of is the Dignis case (available on eBay) which is also $100. Was $90 when I bought mine.

Good choice!

The M is meeting my portable needs. Like you said, it sounds good. And the funky UI is sweet. It will keep getting better with Folder View on the horizon.

I use my X5 in its ugly silicon case as my sweat-resistant DAP for working out at the fitness club and the M for everything else. I am not even looking at new DAPs anymore.

As regards cases, it won't save you any dosh but the Dignis case at $99 is the high-end choice. Splash out once and you will be unlikely to regret it. It is a quality product that really protects the M.

I'm using this bought at a Korean domestic online shop for about +$30. It does what it has to do and the belt clip is a good plus. But M gets quite warm running in the case and I think it would be same with the Dignis case.

Man, a hundred bones just for a simple case. If they ever come out with a dock I shudder to think what the MSRP will br

AFAIK the Dignis case does not have anything to do with Calyx. It is a third party offering for the M (by the same case company that is hired by AK for their house cases). But yes, the official Calyx case does seem pricey for what is essentially a leather wrap around the sides.

And to be honest the case can be a bad idea in hot climate as it traps too much heat.

If patiences permits this weekend I will test WAV only playback and see how it impacts battery life and heat production.

There must be a non-specific after-market case that will fit it, even if it's just a cheapo mobile phone case...

Given that the AK240 case, whilst lovely to look at, feel and smell, is next to useless at protecting the unit, I'm just using the case that came with my RHA 750 'phones - perfect fit.

(Not that I'm suggesting use the RHA 750 'phones case, cos the M won't fit in there, I was just using that for exampling purposes)

Remember when Calyx was delaying the release of M because of a bug in ESS 9018K2M DAC that they discovered and fixed?
I guess they were not the only ones, as LH Labs and Geek Out just found and fixed an issue as well, probably the same one.

I'm going to go buy a Cellular place today and see if maybe I luck out.Who knows, maybe there's an overly bulky case that will fit this thing

Hey guys, for once I lucked out. I found that clip on case someone mentioned at a cellular accessories kiosk at my local mall. The fit is pretty good and the hard leather should protect the unit from minor wear and tear. Price was 30 bones Canadian.
