Really only want to spend $500 but can't find the ATH-W1000 for less. It is one of my contenders. I have no idea what they sound like or any AT can for that matter. RS-1's? What would you buy and why?

    AKG K702 or Denon AH-D2000

Got the itch to spend money on some new cans. Luv my DT770's. My HD650's are not getting any playing time. Wes Phillips keeps raving about the 701/702's and Headroom seems to think very highly of the Denon AH-D2000. These are at similar price points. Help a brother out and tell me which to buy.

I recently acquired a $16 Memorex MD6447, the Panny SL-SX500 and the iRiver SlimX. So far the iRiver sounds the best. I was wondering what else is out there NON VINTAGE, ie NEW in production PCDP's that has good or GREAT sound quality. Sony's, Panny's?

    Porta-Pro 2's at J&R for $20, should I or shouldn't I ?

J&R has the Porta-Pro 2's for 19.99 plus shipping or the Porta -Pro's for $39.99 with free shipping. I had the 2's once and plugged into a receiver head phone jack they sounded terrible, wooley and bassey, some of the worst sound I ever heard. Took them back to CC. Now that I know what I know...

    KOSS Pro4/AA or Pro4/AAT

Anybody heard these cans in the last year or 2? They were the standard in all radio stations, studios and dorm rooms 25 years ago. Just wondered what they sound like now compared to HD650's or sealed cans like AKG271. Spent a lot of hours wearing Pro4/AA's at the radio station and in the...

Anybody know anything about Groove Tube toobs? I just ordered a pair of new production, brand labeled I assume, for less than $20 delivered off a seller on Ebay with 99% rating, lots of feedbacks, deals in toobs mostly. Just wondered what they might sound like. I can always resell.

Really am enjoying my Woo3 and Senn 650's and occassionaly rock out with my Alessandro MS2's but feel the need to buy myslef an Xmas present. A nice pair of sealed cans (AKG271) would come in handy from time to time. The Beyers come highly recommended and are being obsoleted. Would hate to miss...

    Need SS amp with lots-O-power

Looking for direction on a solid state headphone amp with lots of power. I am convinced that is why my Woo 3 sounds so good beside being tube powered, it has lots of power reserves. My current cans are listed in my signature line but Senn HD650's are getting the most use these days with rock...

    My first tube headphone amp

or any other tube amp for that matter. I came up in the age of the transistor. Due to increasing peer preasure and feelings of being totally (tube) inadequate, I bought a Woo Audio 3 headphone amp. Got it yesterday and have put a few hours on it with my Senn 650's. All I can say is WOW! I can...

I want a pair of GREAT closed cans

Considering anything up to $750. Headroom really likes the Beyer 250's. Others here like the 770. I tried the Senn 280's and couldn't stand the headclamp sweatboxes. The Audiotechnica's look interesting but I don't know enough about them. Prefer soft non leather cups but not a necessity. Want...

    AKG K-1000's or Sony MDR-SA5000

May have found a great, little, inexpensive amp to drive the K1000's but found a great deal on a pair of SA5K's. Which one to buy? I know the K1000's are supposed to go out of production this year if they haven't already. Lots of sites advertising but nobdy has in stock. My music tastes lean...

PS Audio GCHA headphone amp, shootout?

OK. I've read all there is to read in the archives. Is there someone else who has gotten one and compared it to another headphone amp in the GCHA's price range? Supposedly they have sold out of the first production run. Dying to know how it compares. $1000 is a lot of money.

    iPod NANO?

Anybody bought one of these yet? Sound? SS memory is the heat. We have 2 full size iPods and both of them skip when we go for walks. Tooby sounding SS amp for HD650's?

OK. I've read tons-O-posts about Senn HD650's and toob amps. Don't really want to go over to the dark side with their associated (hellish) heat output and toob rolling, biasing, etc. Minor issues to deal with for sure, but I want a tooby sounding SS amp, I think. Recco's?

    Distortion with HD600's

Got a pair of refurb HD 600's from AA. Have about 75 hours on them. At first listen they seem to be very distorted at times. It has gotten better after 75 hours but some stuff is still unlistenable. Just finished listening to a Mappleshade sampler that has a couple of tracks with some dirty sax...
