    LOUIS VUITTON HEADPHONES

Oh...these really are a thing. When I clicked on this thread I initially thought it would be a joke, like a 'Gucci' Glock. Guess that was a wrong assumption. I suppose that no one should be surprised over this kind of product. After all, anything that's wearable is by default now part of one's...

    Who's scooping airline stocks?

Well I'd be more willing to take the risk if it looks to be a done deal in convincing the general populace that it really IS a good and safe thing to seal yourself up in a tin (okay, aluminum) can of a tube, and breathe the same air and share the same environment with like souls for an hour or...

    RIP Art Dudley

Cancer sucks. Sorry for your loss of a soul who sounds like a good, kindly friend. I recall reading some of Dudley's musings and reviews when I was a regular subscriber to Stereophile. As my infatuation with premium audio dulled and subsided and I subsequently moved onto other interests (old...

Noise cancelling headphones for hearing protection

I'll start by saying that it's been a while since I've been back here. Suffice to say that as I get older, high fidelity doesn't matter nearly as much as I once thought it did. Deteriorating hearing will do that. As does persistent visits to the local shooting ranges, often shooting a LOT of...

    The Xiaomi Pistons Thread 2.0

Came across these by accident; truth is that it's been a few years since I've used buds or canals with any sort of regularity. Someone did a highly favorable write-up on some tech site that I never heard of, but a quick glance over at Amazon showed a ton of glowing grades and reviews so I...

    Non-audiophile reactions to high-end headphones

Most so-called non-audiophiles that I know really aren't so 'non'. They just don't see the need to spend that kind of cheddar, particularly in this day and age. Even I've lost the urge to sample everything and anything. At any rate...   Best comment I ever experienced (about 15-16 yrs ago)...

Low cost amp w/ auto shutoff?

Quote: Thanks for the link. Looks exactly like what I need, though I'm not sure I want another CMOY in an Altoids case for the third time. Wonder how difficult it'll be to transfer all the parts to one of these:     I'll have to devise a better way to keep the lid on tight and...

It's hard explaining to friends/family why you need multiple headphones

Quote: I agree. My wife never believed 'need', whether it applied to audio gear, a new Nikkor lens, adds to the Porsche or another Sig Sauer.

Low cost amp w/ auto shutoff?

It's been a while since I've shopped for a portable headphone amp so I'm not really versed on what's available these days. I'm looking for a relatively inexpensive amp that has auto shutdown capability. Ultra thin would be nice but not mandatory. Really like the form factor of the Headstage(?)...

    Non-audiophile reactions to high-end headphones

When I bought my HD800 my wife thought I was certifiably nuts. Now I rarely get to use them since she's the one who's always hogging them for herself. Well, at least I can crank the Thiels in peace when she's got the Senns on.

One hour left - what would you do before the end of the world?

The JH16 Pro: JH Audio Announces The JH Audio JH16 Pro Custom In-Ear Monitor

The one nice thing about having degrading hearing (it's official, according to those obscenely expensive folks more commonly known as doctors) is that the temptation level for spending this level of dead presidents on something this small and delicate and ultimately superfluous just barely...

YES!!! monster Beats Solo ARE AMAZINGG...Not really, they are horrid

Ahh, The Beats. I've tried these a couple of times @ BB when I've happened on units that actually weren't busted up; thought they sounded okay in a brutish, primordial soup kinda way...but nowhere close to a $300 sense of worth. Actually like the styling, though...when they're not broken. Really...

    Most surprising purchase of 2009?

HD-800 for sure on the audio side. Still can't believe I'd drop so much on something so ugly, w/o even a preview listen to boot. But still pales to my MSAR STG-556 purchase as a sordid Xmas present to myself. At least I'm ready with tunes and guns blastin' for the End of Days.

Audio Technica ATH-ANC7b Noise Cancelling Headphones?

I don't use my ANC7 much these days, preferring IEMs instead. But I did like it better sonically than the QC2 and QC3 I sampled. Isolation-wise, I think the Bose sets might've done a slightly better job, but I simply couldn't tolerate their SQ.

Ultimate Ears Triple.fi 10 Earphones for $99 at Amazon!

I got my set yesterday; totally surprised me since Amazon kept saying it wasn't going to arrive until January. Guess some day I'm going to have to bust them out of its box to see what the fuss is all about, although I'm quite happy dinking around with my new Custom 2 set right now.

    klipsch custom 2 replacement tips

Medium set? I only got two sizes in two styles (conical silicone and double flanged silicone); I couldn't get a decent fit with any of the OE tips supplied for the Custom 2 I just picked up ($70 from Amazon.com). I ended up using a set of silicone triple flanges that came with my old Ety ER-4s...

What songs do you use to test a new IEM?

I use a bunch but there's usually a select few I tend to fall back and rely on the most: 'Say Goodbye' by Dave Matthews Band. Stuck on this one ever since I heard this song in a Focal-sponsored custom mobile install a decade or so ago. One of those epiphany experiences I've never been able to...
